I have an 8110 and am running 4.3.0.93.

When I'm drafting an email and in the "To" column, I can access any of my contacts by starting to type their last time. However...certain contacts will not show up if I start by typing their first name.

Anyone else seen this one?

Yep, if you have a filter on your address book...

Address Book > Menu > Filters > UNcheck all.

Good suggestion...both boxes were unchecked. And here's an even stranger thing. When I'm in the address book I don't have this issue. Only when I'm in the "To" field while doing an email.

Removing the battery for a reboot is always a good first suggestion.

Otherwise, I am at a loss of ideas there. Someone else will likely have another suggestion.

This is perplexing...usually I'm fairly proficient at figuring this stuff out but I'm stumped here.

I should also clarify...in all instances entering the LAST name works...only the FIRST name gives me this issue. Bizzare!!

I have to ask a dumb question here. Are you displaying the address book by
Last Name,First Name order?

I had the same issue and it was because I had their first and last name in the First Name field. Moved their last name to Last and it worked fine.

No such thing as a dumb question. In the address book, names are Last, First. When I'm entering a contact into the "To" line it varies...sometimes the first name will yield multiple names (i.e. Jennifer Smtih, Jennifer Jones).

I have one Glenn in my book...and when I hit the first three letters it sometimes comes up with "gle" (and his name doesn't appear) or some other combination...hlr/glr/hle...etc.

edit: to Jenks point, I checkd and the Glenn I referred to above has the names properly separated between First/Last.

Maybe Glenn's address book details have been corrupted. Do you think removing, pulling the battery, and re-adding Glenn back would help? Weird issues call for weird solutions.

i had this on sunday with my curve

i wanted to email a photo which had just been txt to me via mms.

so i forwarded as email but the contacts list didn't offer my intended recipient.

i had to drop out to address book and copy the email address then forward as and paste the email address in.

oddly tho as i pasted it the To field then offered me the contact name for that email address
