I see the Samsung i760 in photos. Does this mean you have this phone also? If so, could you comment on the following please:
Any benefit in having Wifi in i760 vs. not having it in the Pearl in terms of email access or anything similar - or is Wifi just a way to cut down on data usage?
Is email/web access faster/slower using WIfi - Verizon sales rep claims their net is faster than Wifi?
Is browser better on i760?
Due to large cost difference between i760 and Pearl - in terms of monthly unlimited and total ($44.99 vs. $29.99, $250 vs $150), I'm asking these questions.

Can anyone comment on the microphone of the 8130 compared to that on the 8830? The 8830 has a well documented issue of the microphone being way to sensitive and almost unusable in any situation where there is significant background noise.

so will we be able to download and use google maps or have to purchase the VZ Navigator for $9.99 per month?
also the is the $44.99 per month unlimited plan the same as the $29.99 one i have with t-mobile for just blackberry usage? Right now i have two phones one for talkin and one for pearlin' but if its gonna cost + $25 a month over the tmobile pearl just to have one phone im not so sure...
thanks for any info
p.s. i use jivetalk on the blackberry instead of the text-message charging IM client, would i be able to use that for verizon version blackberry also?

Google maps installs but errors and will not launch.. BB Maps doesn't see the VZW 8130's internal GPS.. SPOT doesn't get a location from the built in GPS...

If you do NOT use a bes... go with the $29.99 (with qualifying voice plan) Email and web for blackberry plan (this is the BIS plan)...

Currently you can use Gtalk and Yahoo! IM right now...
AOL IM, Windows Live!, and ICQ clients should be available shortly... for more info see -> HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - View Single Post - Official BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Release Thread
I've not used Jivetalk... but since AOL, WLM and ICQ work on my T-Mo 8320, and not on my VZW 8130... and Google Maps doesn't run on the 8130... I'm not going to guess about Jivetalk...

I currently use JiveTalk on my work 7100i. I emailed them a few days ago asking about the 8130, and their support team said it should work fine. Although I wont know for sure till I get mine tomorrow from FedEx and try it.

Right. You get upto like 10 BIS mail accounts... unlimited DATA for web, email, and such...
The IM programs I mentioned above all use DATA... not text messaging like the IM program on REGULAR Verizon Phones usually do...

This is from the Broadband Access Terms and Conditions page:
If usage exceeds 5 GB per line during any billing period, we reserve the right to reduce throughput speeds of any application that would otherwise exceed such speed to a maximum of approximately 200 Kbps. These speeds are subject to change, in our reasonable discretion, in order to address network issues. I

Serious mixed information on the $24.95 plan
Just ordered my VZ Pearl on Sunday
There is considerable disagreement on multiple boards about this new BB data and email $29.95 rate and whether the data is "unlimited."
I spoke to a VZ rep and ordered the phone online for automatic credits. BUT... While I reviewing the options rep looked up the BB Web and Email service and said "it has a 10MB monthly limit. 500 emails = 1 MB" and that I can track usage via the usual #DATA call and upgrade to the $45/month plan if my usage gets too high.
When ordering online "unlimited" was listed only for the other $45 plan.

I wasn't sure about this whole $29 rate so I documented my Chat session with the VW rep... Here's what she said:
VW: You can browse the internet and email as much as you would like.
VW: The max is 5GB per month.
VW: Once you exceed 5GB it will be .015/kilobyte.

Yeah, I know that, they call it unlimited.. it says 5gig in the fine print...
But if you call in and say "I want the $29.99 5gb/month plan... the CS people will be TOTALLY CLUELESSS...
plus, you're not going to hit 5 gig using the blackberry by itself...
The other plan is limited to 10 MEG per month... and says so
