Looks like a newer version of GV is out. As usual, no change log. Will install later and see if there are any goodies. Hoping for push notifications for text, but not holding my breath.

More complete details about the new version here: http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=499968.

I think it's worth the upgrade even though 5-min still the "best" refresh rate.

Looks like there's also an under-the-hood performance upgrade with update as well for faster dialing: http://bit.ly/dzh3JR

Until today, the Google Voice app had to make a request to the Google Voice server every time you wanted to make a call to send us the phone number you wanted to dial. Then the call would be connected via a Google Voice access number. With direct access numbers, we assign a unique phone number to every person you call. This means that we no longer need to use your data network to access the server each time you make a call, so calls will be placed much faster.

Downside would be those of you who used the GV access number in their friends-and-family lists to try to get unlimited calls.

It does support the storm2. You need to change your browser settings.

Browser - Menu - Options - Browser Configuration - Browser Identification: Internet Explorer

Direct dialing worked for me for 1 day when it was released and never did work since. Anyone has this experience?

I heard they were rolling out the direct dialing, so it might be some time before its 100%.

I just tried this today and was surprised that Google Voice doesn't use the internet to make the call, instead the Blackberry calls an access number. Why would it do this? What benefit is there to dial an access number and then dial the number in my address book? When I use Google Voice from my desktop, it uses the internet to dial the call.

That is a major negative for us Verizon users. Someone should design a Blackberry application that calls the Google Voice number and then dials the number you want to call. Then the calls would be included in Friends and Family. I don't totally understand what, if anything, this application is good for.
