Just received a BB 8820 that i got on ebay, about 1month old. Great!
So i do a restore of previous data from my 8800 to the 8820, everything is fine...great!
Except Password keeper, can't log in...tells me:
A password entry created on 8/9/2007 is protected by an old password. Please enter the old password to convert the entry.
WTF!!!
I tried contacting the seller, but he says he's never used it and has no clue.
I tried entering different possibilities 10-15 times to wipe data(according to what other treads said) and restore my previous passwords but no matter how many times i try, system just keeps on telling me to enter correct password.
Is it possible for me to reset this thing...Could i wipe out this file and restore mine from my 8800?
Worst case scenario, could i delete the OS and restore it and will this remove my problem?
Just enter the wrong password 10x, it will wipe the Password Keeper application ONLY, not the entire BB. You won't lose any data or your info, only the old info in PK from the old users. No worries.
i tried entering a password atleast 25 times...how many to reach the max logins...i doubt its more than that!!
Id really love to wipe if off and be able to reload my previous entries as opposed to redo a full OS replacement....if i have no choice than this is what im left with...but if i could do otherwise...a big relief
Oh wait a second, Can i remove the Password keeper apps from the phone - Advanced options - what akosnitzky said and restore this exact app from my backup...
Please let us know if deleting the OEM app worked and if you had a problem reloading it. I think there are 3rd party apps that will keep passwords, I'm not sure if I want them since the OEM version seems to work well...so I'm interested in your experience.

Was able to clear the app through desktop application. For some reason couldn't replace it with simply that file...it was all or nothing...so ì'll simply copy my info from one to another...not that many anyways.
