Default Is something wrong with my battery?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my Storm 2 yesterday with Verizon, came home charged it up before using it... Messed with it a little, texted a little, not much at all and 4-5 hours later, im at 58% battery life.

Charged the phone over night, and text a little bit today, made one 25min. call and used pandora for about 5 minutes, other than that.. the phone has been locked & it's got a little over 2 bars out of 5.

It's not holding a charge for long at all. It's got me a tad annoyed and on top of trying to get used to the touchscreen, it's quiet frustrating. This is my first blackberry, I tried out the tour in the store and could type faster on the tiny keys than the touchscreen for some reason, but since I turned the auto text/spell check off ont he storm 2, I can type better on it.

Remember that the BB has a light sensor, so it will automatically adjust your screen brightness according to the ambient light....

Give the phone a few days of usage, the Lithium-Ion batteries required some charge/discharge cycles to fully get their potential and also being a new "toy" you will be using it much right now that you will in a few weeks so that also affects the way you perceive your battery life...

good luck

Make sure you try a battery pull. Also make sure you don't leave your phone in an area where it struggles to get a signal. If you deleted any applications but didn't reset the phone they still can be pulling resources. Also, hold down the bb menu button and close every open program you can. If you leave your phone on all night after it was fully charged - the battery should still have at least 90% power. If not I would swap out the battery. There are other things you can check but hopefully that will help.

Will they give me a new battery at verizon, you think?

I found a few on ebay, new OEM batteries for the storm/storm 2 and they are only like $6-$10

I may buy an extra anyways.

They may swap it out for a new one. I bought mine online and that's what they did.

I would definitely take it back to Verizon for a replacement.
We have had to do this in the past with no problem.

also, change your light settings. i have my backlight set for 30 percent. and to shut off at 10 seconds. if the phone not getting used it defenitly don't need to be on a full 30 seconds. which is default. and u most defenitly don't need 100 percent lighting to see the screen.

I'm having this exact same problem. I admit that I am a very heavy blackberry user. I use it a great deal during the day. I have been having to charge my phone sometimes more than twice a day. Its a good bit annoying as the verizon store told me to let the battery "get broken in" and I'm going on 2 weeks and it still pretty much blows. Even as heavy as I use the bb I only had to charge my curve once a day during sleep time. I'm really thinking about taking it back for something else. But...what to get? I wish the newer tour 2 was already here as I would more than likely get it.

Turn off GPS, set your mobile network to 1XEV, put your brightness at 10 and turn off auto-dim. Also, keep Wife off when you don't need it on, along with Bluetooth.

That would turn it into a brick in a cute carry case, WhatSabb. I want the full functionality of it while getting good battery life. Any one got any other ideas??

there are some OEM battery in the market and some of them have very good reputation, perhaps you could consider it! besides standard capacity batteries, they also offer extended battery with 2 to 3 times capacity than the original one.
