After the 1.0.20 update screwed the Pearl it took me 3 days to get Slacker working right again. I won't be updating Slacker again. If it breaks, I will just delete it instead of wasting so much time and effort getting logged in and stations cached.

My biggest problems are getting the music from a cached station and every now and then it wont take my login.

This version is a lot more responsive. The lag is cut down a lot, and shutting down the program is REALLY fast compared to what it used to be!

I can answer this, because my daughter ran the update on my Blackberry in an effort to "help me out", so even though I swore I would never do it again I did.

My cached stations showed as "0" when I actually had 18. I plugged the thing in to my computer and let if refresh stations. Everything showed right, but when I tried to play it just scrolled through songs without making a single sound. I was going to try one more time this morning to make it work, but my cached stations show as "0" again.

I deleted it and wiped all Slacker data from my memory card. It is a great idea in theory but they just can't make it work yet. I will keep an eye on it and maybe try again in a few months but I have wasted hours on this application and gotten very little actual listening done.

Yes. Because without the cache function you will go through your battery rather quickly in 2 hrs

I've been listening to streaming stations (not cached) upwards of 4 hours per day, and haven't noticed a large hit on the battery.

Hi guys, I'm new to the Slacker Radio thing so pardon me if these are stupid questions.

I cached a coupla stations and now it seems there's a very restricted playlist for them. Now that's probably because you can only cache so many songs on a memory card so eventually it has to start repeating itself. My question is, can't it detect when I'm plugged in on AC power and stop using music from the cache?

Also, shouldn't it be able to update the cache automatically via wifi when you're connected to a hot spot and connected to AC power?

Finally, I have a pretty decent internet connection at home (I have Time Warner's fastest level of cable internet) - no problems streaming HD video and what not, but it takes literally hours to update my 5 cached stations. Anyone know why? Do I need to fix something?

i recently updated my slacker. after updating, now the music doesn't play through the external speakers.....only through the phone speaker. pressing the speaker phone button on my curve does nothing, and i don't see an option within slacker anywhere to change it. is anyone else having this issue?

I can't help but to agree with you, except that I got rid of mine a couple weeks ago.
I love this concept, but its got a lot of bugs yet to work out.

When you all updated Slacker, did you install the new version over the old? Or did you remove it from the device first?

I've just been installing mine over the version I already have. Haven't noticed any problems yet.

Thanks, I might update it then. When I first installed 1.0.20, which is my first time version, it was slow and bogged down my BB, but now it's playing well, no problems, even the non-cached stations. Slacker is the first internet radio app that has worked well for me. BerryTunes didn't work that well for radio and FlyCast was worse.

Daphne, nice call! I think I originally just installed over my previous version, but I just deleted it, hard reset, resent service books, re-downloaded slacker, and everything works great now. I couldn't log in with the existing ID I had, so I created a new one. Works great since.



So is deleting an app before you upgrade it always a wise thing to do? I've always just installed over the top with Viigo, Google Maps, etc....this was the first problem I've noticed though

I am not interested in hard resets, resending service books or in reformatting my memory card every single time Slacker wants to update. When you get a response from Slacker support it A L W A Y S involves reformatting your memory card. The problem that I have with that is that my memory card has about 4GB of data on it that I need. It isn't that I don't have backups of that data; I do. It is that I would have to backup new data, reformat and then >>copy 4GB of data back to my memory card<< so that this buggy application can properly update.

No thanks. I refused to sign up for premium radio in the early days because I don't spend enough time in front of my computer with Internet access. I later refused to buy their hardware because, well, if I am spending $200 on an MP3 player I am buying an iPod or an XM radio. The one chance that Slacker had to convert me into a paying customer is gone now as well because they released this half baked beta as a finished application that was ready for prime time. It isn't.

I just updated it like I would any other pgrm and it did fine. Odd.
