The link you provided does not answer this question. It is not about hardware at all, and it is about software developer like GoodLink or Visto, writing closed source software for popular handhelds.
If this URL is about OpenSource code or they offer non-proprietary widely available smartphone, they hide it well.

I think that the markets are overlapping, but different. WM5 devices are largely much more flexible, in many ways. As a programmer, the limitations in the API of the BB make me want to claw someone's eyes out. I also have to maintain our BES, which, while much improved, is still a PITA. From my perspective, having the WM5 solution using the same Exchange server we already use, that is simple.
