New improved SureType with predictive text. Face life to emails, tasks, calendar, etc., new Browser, voice notes recorder....and many more headaches we don't know about, I'm sure.

Thanks John. Way to tease us by telling us about all these great new features in this elusive update that is seemingly taking forever. I just want the A2DP bluetooth profile!

I have Pearl with Vodafone Ireland. Bought the phone on Ebay and it works great. The OS says V4.2.0.51 (platform 2.2.0.32). I have one problem in that Caller ID works sometimes with name coming up and then another time I get this number but don't know who it is cos the name doesn't show. Looked on vodafone BB site but no firmware. Reading this forum talks about Rogers but I have no idea about this.

Could I download this firmware for my unit?

Thanks in advance

Ray

Ok found the link in FAQ's - should have looked there first!!

I just bought mine a month ago and noticed that it's running 4.2.1.94 should I perform the upgrade ?

That seems to be the version assigned to the "BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Smartphone" and not the "BlackBerry 8100 (TM)"...

What is the difference in bothe version ?

Thumbs up 4.3.1.14

I've tested 4.3.1.14, have no problem with installation.
Works ok, but java games seems to run very slow.

(Edit by John Clark: Links to beta OS's removed) , but you find it by google

desktopmanager 4.3 (331MB):

Have a nice day.

Thumbs up

Hi - newbie here.

I just did the OS upgrade over the weekend, and it's working great. I had what I guess you'd call a memory leak on my phone, disappearing texts and call lists, was having to pull the battery 2-3 times a day; the upgrade seemed to fix all that. Followed the directions exactly, upgrade worked smoothly. Only little thing I noticed was that the spinning hourglass part lasted closer to an hour, but I just left it alone and it went on like it was supposed to.

Why would you think it's fake? That blog says nothing about it being fake. 4.3.1 has been rebranded as OS 4.5 and should hopefully release in the next month or two.

No its real. But will carriers actually do it??? I could see AT&T using this as an opportunity to sell devices and "force" everyone with an 8700c to upgrade to an 8800 if they want the new features. Users with the 8100 move to the 8110 (when available). Not many users know you can swap carriers firmwares and I assume AT&T would take advantage of it.

Whoever posts 4.5 first, gets my download!!!! I am using 4.3.1 and it is wonderful!

OS 4.5 (4.3.1) will be available for the 8700. AT&T will likely make it available too.

I knew the entire 8xxx series had it available, I will just be suprised as I have had a fight over a problem that RIM clearly stated on conference call with AT&T, was fixed in a later release and AT&T and no other carrier for that matter has released it. RIM said they cannot force carriers to do anything and everybody on the conference call (including AT&T) was appologetic that our problem could not be solved. AT&T did recommend tossing out 8100's for the 8310 though. Bastards!!! No matter, my entire Criminal Investigations team is running 4.3.1.14.

dropdown doesn't offer "BlackBerry 8100" (anymore?), just BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Smartphone.

is that now the correct option?

thanks.

Hello there.
I saw that Vodafone Portugal doesn't have any update for the blackberry.
My question is: If i download and install the 8100M_PBr4 1].2.1_rel181_PL2.3.0.85_A4.2.1.109_Rogers_Wireless do i loose all the configuration of my carrier? (Vodafone internet connection settings, sms server to send messages, etc....).
The company that i work for has a mail server outside of Portugal and the phone it's already ready to do the sycronization with the Lotus Notes. Do i will loose that has well?

You won't loose anything specific to your carrier. All that provisioning is done through your sim card, not the OS.

If you are connected to a BES, you will need to reactivate on that BES. It will happen automatically if you are connected to your email server through desktop Manager when you do the update or, if not, you can call your IT department for a new activation password.

Hello I am new here and very new to the 8100,I have never had one before but for some reason always wanted to try one.

Well enough of that on to my question,I have been reading very intently about this new software and did some looking and found this on the AT&T web site and was wondering if anyone knew if it would be a upgrade over what I already have. The AT&T software is 4.2.1.154 and my T-mobile is 4.2.1.107.

Would there be any really good upgrades or is it about the same??I have been mostly a Motorola Person and have done some flashing with those phones but I have also bricked a few also and so I am a little skiddish about doing something to a phone I do not have a clue about, with the Moto phones you could not even think about using any AT&T software on a T-mobile phone so the concept of this is a little hard to grasp without thinking of the phone not getting bricked!!!

Any help would be very helpful to a person that is walking on thin ice as far as a new phone goes or would I be better off waiting for this new version that everyone is talking about?I am really unhappy about not having A2DP Bluetooth on this phone!!!!THANK YOU TO ALL that help this rookie out!!!!

Your ATT software you quote is actually the package version and the TMobile software you quote is an app version (apples & oranges, in a way.)

I doubt there is much difference in the software but I'd need to know what app version the AT&T software is.

That being said, you can load any carrier's OS to any like device. The BB isn't a Moto.

Note: A2DP will be available in the next few months with an OS update.
