Does anyone have a release date for this device?

Its clear that its already out and people are using it.

Does it pay to wait for this or go with a bold or tour?

I was told that verizon is due to carry the bold as well..has anyone heard this?

its not "out".
people have pre-production units etc that they are testing.

its due out in the next couple of months i think.

no, verizon is CDMA, the Bold is GSM.

Default wait for storm 2 or get tour

does it make sense to get the storm 2 or get the tour?

reason being my fingers are short and stubby and my luck with the storm have been so so..not great.
As far as the tour, I see it is the bold minus wifi..

the only problem is that I wanted wifi on my next handheld..
do I stick with bb or are the other handsets from vzw decent??

I never minded windows mobile either..I liked the bb email though..

any suggestions?

i do miss having the physical keyboard though

there is due a tour with wi-fi, well rumoured, no idea when it will be released.

its a trade off.
if you need wi-fi then you need to go with the storm 2, but your typing is conprimised.

if typing is more important, you'll have to not have wi-fi.

decide which is more important.

I think an experienced Storm2 texter can out-text an experienced Tour texter.

From the looks of the new Storm2 screen technology, I think the Storm2 keypad will actually be easier/faster than the hard keypad.

A lot of people on here automatically shrug off touchscreen as inferior no matter what. As if you're sacrificing something, when in reality you're gaining something. (disregard if you're over 50 ) I'm not talking about the Storm1...not a fan of that touchscreen.

I love my Curve keypad over the last couple years but I'm going to make the plunge on the Storm2. Well...at least for 30 days.

there are soo many rumors its rather annoying..

the thing is that id like to be able to connect to wifi and be able to type on a regular keyboard which would be IDEAL and for that the bold would be perfect..
I like the concept of touch screen but think, for me, physical keyboard is more practical..

I wonder if wifi is as fast as 3g..

im guessing vzw will release a new series of pdas around the holidays...safe to assume so??

storm 2 is next couple of months.
the 8530 (aries, CDMA version of 8520 gemini) due out possibly christmas or later
(but no GPS (i presume, the 8520 doesnt have GPS), trackpad)
then the tour with wi-fi who knows.

If you have good 3G coverage, then it should be a good speed. I dont think it will be as fast as wi-fi.

I dont disagree with that, but the OP said that they prefered a physical keyboard.

The Storm 2 will be out sooner than you think. And yes the Storm 2 has Wifi. Wifi on a normal day should always be faster than 3G.
