Default Newbie Question - Loading Applications

Please Login to Remove!

New to the forums but have a question. I have BB service through my company, and want to load one 3rd party application to my 7100i. I realize that I have to load the Desktop Manager to the do this, but it asks if I want BES or BIS. To be honest, I only want to load applications without any syncing as I get my e-mails from the company set-up. Can anyone help?

Have searched the forums for this issue but can't find it. Apologize if it's out there.

Thanks!!

You probably should talk to your IT people before you do anything. Odds are you have a policy installed, and odds are it will prevent you from installing applications. And trying may cause you some problems with security folks.

Thanks for the reply. I have confirmed that it is okay to load 3rd party apps. I am just trying to load a password program that includes a desktop client. I agree with you - I don't want to mess anything up but sure would like to get my passwords loaded (SplashID).

jwip, if you do not know if you have a BES or not, or do not want your device to connect to your BES if you do have one, then just install as BIS.

This will give you all the same features, but without the Desktop connecting to your corporate mail system.
