Lightbulb rim8700g.sfi - Radio file?

Please Login to Remove!

I was just curious...

I read on a post that it was not possible to use the radio file from one version such as Cingular, and the rest of the os from another release such as Rogers.

What if I replaced the rim8700g.sfi file from the Cingular installation folder, on top of the Rogers 8700g.sfi file?

Wouldn't I that give me Cingular radio function with Rogers apps?

Well maybe I should have explained more...

I installed Bharti on my Cingular device for use in the USA, but I wanted to keep my Cingular radio design...would it not make a defference in the radio preformance/settings?

So you installed Bharti in order to get a theme, and now you want to try and mix radio code back on top....

If you try this, make sure you have a copy of Javaloader very close by.

Nope, no third parties...

I used the java loader and it indicated that there was an error loading net_rim_theme_blackberry_320x240.cod I have tried loading the new os over ten times, and the log keeps showing me the same error, and it's the one and only error. I am reloading the os for the 11th time, but I'm using the net_rim_theme_blackberry_320x240.cod file from the dobson os to see what happens...

The JVM 102 error has nothing to do with the platform code/file - it's an error with the OS. You can do a hybrid installation, using the platform/radio code from a package that's not the same as the OS file, and your method was correct. With that said, if you aren't noticing a tendency for dropped network signal, lower signal, etc., then there's no point, to be honest. Sure, Cingular and T-Mobile and Rogers and various other carriers may add in certain network fixes, but it'd be a very low percentage that you'd actually be one of the affected users. As I've mentioned in other threads, it's highly unlikely that any non-North American and non-European carriers actually do much, and likely no modifications to the stock network code (just my opinion).

Red face Thanks so much for your input!

So here's my question for you:

After the 11th time of trying to re-install Bharti, and it giving me the JVM 102 error, I re-installed the latest cingular package, and it now works perfectly! What do you sugest that the problem might be, as to why the Cingular OS works, but every other one gives me errors, including Dobson, TMO, and Rogers...

Thank you - Any input would be greatly apreciated.

My suggestion, wipe it with jl commander, go back to a 507 and start from scratch.
