I still can't decide if I want to give up my 7100t suretype device for an 8700g. I really like the size and the one handed operation is great for in the car (of course, I don't type and drive... )Is this going to have the faster processer, and edge as does the 8700? And is there any rumor of one for TMobile?
the device is an upgrade from 7100. it will feature edge a screen visiable in sunlight so an upgrade there and not sure if they are upgrading the processor.
I remember seeing those pics a couple of months ago, that device is code named 'Positron'. It will be out on the last quarter of this year. It will sport a camera and removable memory just like the electron will soon.
The 7130 is coming out on Cingular this month supposedly! its on our May pricelist $349.99 on 2yr agreement with a $50 MIR. If it doesnt make may it will be early June! The Nokia 9300 was on that same list and it made it out of the gate just fine!
I got one of these yesterday for testing and it's a nice bit of kit. Like the 8700, the quality of the plastics have come on leaps and bounds - you could mistake it for a Sony Ericsson!! SureType isn't my cup of tea anymore though so I'm not too up for, but many will be, and will love this device. If you're watching, nice update RIM!!!!
One story is that Cingular is waiting until it has sold all the 7100g's. The price list for my area code 919 has no 7100gs anymore. We had refurbs for sale last week.
I will buy this thing as soon as I can stay home long enough to set it up.
For a few days now, the Cingular website has been showing "temporarily out of stock" for the 7100g (they do have 7100g refurbs) so that may be a "hint of things to come"...flushing inventory.
