I load free ring tones on my Mot phone via my computer and USB cable.

I think that camera phones are kinda nifty at first but the novelty wears off fast.(at least for me it did) I used to have a camera phone that did video and all that stuff, then switched to a blackberry 7250. I couldn't be happier. I can browse the 'net, IM people(easily), take advantage of the messaging features, and more. I can definitely do without a camera in my phone.

And most of my friends who have the "cool, sleek" phones are jealous of me b/c mine actually does something useful :P

Yes, true, and understood, BUT there's no real marketing push behind the real-time email with those other carriers. It's just kinda' there as an extra since the phone is the primary. Now if they were able to say something like "just like BlackBerry" or insinuate the same as, you know how ignorant most consumers are. They'd be like, "Really!!??"

That's just what I've observed. I mean really, there have been portable video devices out there for over a year now and now all of the sudden there's a video iPod and it's like it's something totally new to consumers. Again most people out there are ignorant.

yes most consummers are rather ignorant almost to a brianwashed stand point which in all down side suck's to know end yes PMP's with video (portable Media Player) have been on the market for good 3 years or more almost the leading name of which is Archos. just they have been very pricy but have the screen out of all pmp's i have seen. but you pay what you get for. ipod are nice but only if you use iTunes software or service. as i am a dj i don't want to have to reconvert just for an iPod i want seamless drag and drop. so i can dump my music on and go. archos has been around for a while just not doing massive brain washing marketing like Apple is.

well one day the phones will have a 5 meg pix, with a removable memory card. so you can take nice photos and listen to your music. and then push a button and it will convert into a robot and clean your house for you!

you can get AM/FM devices as small as a pen for under $5 for that, and mp3 players for under $40, why bother RIM engineers with it . . .

I got to put in my two cents here. I work for a military shipyard where it is completely illegal to have any sort of camera, camera phone, etc. This was the blackberrys main selling point for me! Every other 'smart' phone that Ive seen has some sort of camera, and I need my email capabilities when I'm on the job so a 'normal' phone aint gonna cut it. Keep the blackberrys blackberry. If i wanted a camera I wouldv'e bought a fricken treo.

I think both sides are right... Blackberry should keep the simple models they have now for the small group of people who can't have or don't want the additional features, and can make multifunction devices that have the goodies like camera, audio features, etc... with blackberry simplicity and reliability for everybody else.
RIM has only about 4.3 million customers total. Somewhere around 1 billion phone handsets of all brands will be sold this year. Only a percentage of the 4.3 million actually DONT want the extra features. The rest of their customers as well as the majority of those billion phone purchasers either WOULD like or are at least indifferent to the extras like a camera. When the blackberry will be side by side with say the upcoming Motorola Q with all its features, which do you think the average person, or business user will take?
I think I would lose respect for RIM if they didn't acknowledge and address this reality.
