Angry 8800 spam texts- can they be blocked?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm getting spam from 3020 (whoever that is). It reads:

Mobile EmailOZMAIL
CI=20cffd17eea6915ce3a19f6dc815c6elMC=91 (this last number changes with each one)

Is there anyway to block spam?

I got nailed with like 12 the other day but it stopped. I think the carrier is the only way to selectively block text. I think they will accomodate you as it doesn't count against your plan.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I'll call them now. I've gotten over 50 of them all together in 3 days.

If you have interest, my firm handles these kinds of matters. Sometimes you can turn them into cash, because they are illegal according to federal law, and damages are up to $1500 per violation:

Here is the link of interest:

CyberLaw - The Technology Law Firm - Litigation & Dispute Resolution

If you want more info, just fill out the form here:

No, I'm not interested in litigation. I'd rather find out who has the short number 3020 and name and shame them. At least AT&T said that I wasn't getting charged if I didn't open them. hrumph, we'll see when I get my next billing statement.

I am still open to solutions I can handle myself.

I believe (if they are all from the same number) you can filer them out at your mycingular site. Not the BIS site, but your regular account info. At TMo, there is an address book tab, and in that a place to filter text and email incoming.

Wait is the source Email or SMS Text?! If it's email you can filter. If it's SMS I still think the carrier is your only option.

The entire text (not through my email) is in the initial post. I spoke with AT&T this morning, and they claim they can't filter, block or even find out who it is.

I'm turning off my phone for short periods of time... that seems to help for some reason. I'm also not opening them, incase that is encouraging the frequency.

Thanks for all your help

Did you look at your ATT site like I suggested? I know TMo can do that, I don't recall if ATT has the filter on their site.

so true, or even complain to your carrier over them, they should do something

edit: btw most carriers will say something that they cant do anything about it, that is total bullshit, and dont add your number to a land line do not call list, their is no reason for it. its a cell phone, its not required to be on any list not to call, complain to the carrier, they will fix it, they know from where etc, maybe not the 1st call in person but in the co they know where / who etc.

I did try that. I got an error message in return was:
3020 Error Invalid Number. Please resend using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code.
