Default Missed Call Alert -- How to Clear

Please Login to Remove!

My Missed Call Alert is stuck on 1 call. Can't figure out how to clear it.

I've called several new calls into the 8800, let 'em be missed, count goes up, clear those calls, count goes down, but won't go below 1.

Did off/on, pulled battery, still comes back up with missed call = 1.

Went through Messages / View Folders and cleared all calls with an "active" missed call icon, still stuck on 1.

Any ideas ??

tia

Have you tried pulling the battery?

How are you clearing the calls? Going into the phone app/call log (green key) should clear the count entirely.

I presume s/he is clearly them correctly, since they are able to clear other missed calls.
The only logical thing is to assume that there is still a missed call hiding somewhere.
If you still can't find it, then an OS reinstall is the only thing that I can think of.

Before you wipe your device, using the DM, just clear out the phone logs.

That's an idea alright. I'm a Mac user, so I didn't think of that!

Thanks for the input.

I went in and manually deleted each phone log record, under the "phone" icon, and under the "messages" icon in both the "phone log" and "missed calls" folders. Also checked for a lurker in sms/mms folder as well -- nothing there -- but it did not clear the missed call indicator = 1.

I guess I'm not seeing how one could clear the phone logs using DM. I don't find such an option.

At this point I will live with the condition of 1 = 0 rather than doing a device reset.

Tried Cingular support -- beyond their scope and call dropped (landline) while waiting (forever) for transfer to BB support, so more to come when I can finally reach BB Tech Support on this issue.

Heh.. I guess the old "Fewest dropped calls" line only applies to their wireless service..

OK ..... tried the full backup and selective delete and restore approach, and that did not fix the problem. I then did a full wipe and full restore and that fixed the problem.

Interesting that there have been several occurrences of this issue.

There are currently 2 threads running on this subject, so i will risk the wrath of a double post and post this result / resolution in both.

Sometimes alerts will remain on a device due to some sort of bug or glitch. Who knows why it happens. I have had issues such as the one listed above before.

While wiping the device is a good idea and will almost always clean the problem, try another method. If you have an missed call that will not clear, try calling yourself and intentionally missing the call again. Then try deleting that log. I have had success with that method, however it may not work for all. Same goes with emails.

Hope this helps.

Go into the phone log and select the missed call and select "View History". that helps in case you are referring to the missed calls icons on the Phone Log screen that looks like an unread message.

Default Missed Call Glitch

You are not alone. My 8800 has just done the exact same thing. I'm like you, I don't want to have to go through the hassle of re-loading the OS. I don't want to call my IT department to re-activate the BES. I guess I will just have to live with it.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

If you call yourself and don't answer, does your missed call count go to 2? Maybe you can sort of wake it up by deliberately producing another missed call…

Never mind - just reread and see you've already tried that…

Well, when I was trying to fix this problem, I did indeed call myself and allow a missed call. The missed call indicator would increment up as I got missed calls, and would decrement down as I reviewed the missed calls. It just would not decrement down to zero -- 1 was as low as it would go. I also went through the call logs, in the message folder and in the phone app, also went through mms and sms to be sure one of those wasn't lurking and causing the 1x icon. NONE of those things worked -- the only thing that worked was to do the wipe and restore. While it was a PITA, and it took several hours, and I had to do some setup after it was done, it really wasn't that bad.

It's just a da*n shame that the only fix for this annoying little bug is a wipe and restore. It is apparent that numerous users are encountering this issue, so let's hope RIM is reading and writing a cure.

Having the same problem now. I have nailed it down to the device locking up. I had someone calling in. I pulled it out of the holster. Instead of ending the call, I just let it ring and put it back in the holster. I'm about to call and ***** at Cingular. Maybe I'll get a new one out of it. Mine is already starting to look worn.

Hmm, seems like you've tried everything around checking for the actual missed call and clearing it. I wonder, is it maybe a graphical glitch where the indicator is just staying even though it is clear? I know you said it counts down but wonder if it may be worth switching the theme temporarily to see if it "refreshes" the icon(s) and maybe it will go away?

I know that switching themes can be a pain because it puts all the icons back in their default order but may be worth a try... Just a thought.

riker2k...your a genius. It does have to do something with the graphics and the themes. The only one I have gotten to semi work is the Dimension today theme. I switched from the T-mobile zen them to the dimension today theme. The icon was still there. I went into the call log and then exited. The little icon on the main screen went away. It even took away the little asterisk that appears when you hover over the call log icon.

It does however show up at the top when you go into the call log.

I think we are one to something. That theme is the only one I have gotten to act that way. I still have a few to try though.

I have the same problem. Has anyone found a solution for this? How do I reset and reinstall the OS?
