Default OS: 9530 5.0.0.674/5.0.0.419 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.674 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.674
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.419
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.179
* File name: 9530AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel674_PL4.2.0.179_A5.0.0.419_MT S_Mobility.exe
* File size: 111.61MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...027FA84709689E

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9530:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Install was super smooth for me. Running ok so far. Looks like those on BES don't need to re-activate which is nice ... my phone is auto-activating. (or dying )

Some additional info: rock stable so far - best install ever! everything came back including email + activation, you name it, it was restored just fine.

Keyboard has the extra blue highlights ... don't see the value but anyway.

Fast as usual - app world lost the apps I had installed but they are still on the phone so no worries.

Data/Surfing seems faster.

As far as I have been testing, this OS is the best ever!! (previously .328)

Internet speed is faster
Fixed the problem when Home was in landscape mode and the image distorted
Home Image can also be seen when in the home icon area
Smooth installation and some applications were registered and/or you don't have to install OTA again.
A few MB recovered
Keyboard is better than ever

Enjoy!

Default OS Upgrade

I just attempted the upgrade on my Storm which was unlocked for ATT and running .328.

The upgrade was as smooth as can be, no glitches. However I did find that after the upgrade non of my GPS enabled apps such as TeleNav worked. I checked the GPS in the Options and it was set for internal, same as location aiding, etc.

Pulled the battery several times still no luck.. So now I am i the midst of going back to .328

I have tried installing this update and when it goes to install on my computer it gives the option of repair or remove the file. What the heck is this? I also can't find the vendor file. When I lcoate the apploader.dll file it won't open up so I can't delete nor see the vendor file.

Well, it finally worked....I wasn't going into common files...oops. Can't say that I see much of a difference yet, but I will have to play with it more later.

Has anyone loaded this as it comes?

The Crackberry thread discusses removing files from the OS and such. I have never done this.

Anyone have any findings?

I am in the slow process of downloading the MTS Mobility version.

Is anyone currently running it on their Verizon 9530? Feedback?

I am running it and quite honestly I don't see any major differences. Although I do have to say in my office I was never able to get onto the internet and with this new version I now can....it may be slow, but I can get on it. I did also notice that the blue light on the keys is bigger, that seems to help me. Seems like a little better memory too.

I'm running it on a Verizon 9530,and find:

The dimming issue is corrected

Pop-up keys are an option when typing

I gained about 4MB upgrading from 328

The first icon on the home screen isn't scrunched

Web browsing is much faster for me
When a new SMS arives and you open it, the keyboard doesn't automatically open

It has been reported that Speed Dials don't work, I don't use speed dials so i can't confirm this on mine
