Default Thanks but need help

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Curve 8300 (my third Blackberry) and followed all the instructions to the letter. The OS update will not load on my unit.

I deleted the vendor.xml file as directed. Instructons say "Plug in the BB
and double click on loader.exe (there is no loader.exe file) in the same location as the vendor.xml."

When I double click on application "Loader" it goes through all the software
on the unit except the OS.

I have the Sprint Curve 8300. What am I missing. Been working on this
3 hours. Thanks,

if you have file name extensions hidden it's possible that the name of the file will show up as "Loader" and be missing the .exe.

What kind of device do you have, exactly? Look in Options >About.

Your profile says 8330 from Sprint but you say Curve 8300 and you're posting in the 8300 thread. If you have an 8330 you're attempting to load the wrong OS (which is why it won't load.)

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. My unit is the 8330 not 8300. Just glad my effort did not crash the unit. Thanks again, John

Is 4.5 available for curve 8300 from ATT yet and if so, are there any issues?

I have ATT 8300 too and could not get 4.5 to DL. It says it's not yet supported. Checking ATT's site it only shows 4.2 being available and also I chatted with a ATT tech online that said 4.5 was not available for the 8300, just the 8310.

How did you get yours to work?

MoonBase: Thanks for posting this- I was wondering why my application loader for my ATT 8300 wouldn't upgrade.
Did the tech say when it would be available for the 8300?

As usual no they didn't say at all when or if it would be available for the 8300. But I might be looking at the Bold soon when my contract is up anyways. But, If I like the 4.5 update for the 8300, if/when it ever arrives, I will probably pass on the Bold. But, I am guessing that's exactly what their game plan is. Hoping enough people get tired of waiting and upgrade anyway.

Too bad there's no word of the Storm for ATT.

I'm thinking with the upgrade to 4.5 I'd keep my 8300 for a while.
I just don't want to chance screwing up my OS since I'm not techy enough to follow a bazillion steps and if ATT won't support, I'd be concerned about trying to do it myself
.

Exactly. I could use the other versions of 4.5 that are out for the 8300 but I want to be sure that ATT supports it before I use it just incase something gets screwed up. But, I already knwo people who got tired of waiting and left ATT to try to pick up a Storm. I don't hink I will be leaving ATT but the Storm does look nice. I need a keyboard though.

Hi all,
I am a newbie here who's trying to upgrade my 8320 to V 4.5 as advised. I have tried everything as instructed: delete vendor.xml, and run the loader.exe file. The application loader only prompted me whether to update or remove installed 3rd party apps and nothing happened when I clicked Next to proceed since no additional application is detected to be installed.

Strangely, this trick works on my colleagues' handsets, except mine :(
I have even tried to plug my handset and perform the upgrade from my friend's laptop, but still no luck (same result).

My current version is 4.2.2.184.

Please kindly help, and thanks in anticipation.

Regards
Edwin

Default Failing To Upgrade to 4.5.0.81

For those following the steps and failing to upgrade, I too was failing to upgrade to 4.5.0.81 on DM4.7, Device 8300 from a previous upgrade 4.5.xyz??

I noticed that DM's Application Loader was connecting to the internet and when I disabled the internet connection I managed to upgrade (BUT HOLD ON!).

Now the problem is that every time I restart the my bb I'm now getting this error:
"Uncaught exception:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException".
My Google Maps reverted to version 2.3.1, the last version I had was 2.3.2, Something is definately going wrong.

This is a work in progress. Will try uninstall and re-install third party programs. Please kindly help if someone notices I am on on the wrong path.
