Hello all. My Curve won't turn on, and it is blinking red. When I connect it to the computer it goes to solid red, but within seconds disconnects from the USB. And just keeps connecting and disconnecting.

I had been reading the forums, and it sounds like I need to wipe my OS. Problem is, the phone won't stay connected long enough for me to wipe it. I am not very familiar with the phone or connecting USB. Any help is greatly appreciated.

And when I try and change the directory in command prompt, it keeps saying the directory is invalid or missing.

I look at both of those guides. I can't get the blackberry to stay connected, though I can't get it to connect to DM at all.

I was at work, and got poured on. My phone maybe got a little wet in my pocket. I put it in my car, and passed my car like 10 minutes later and that the screen had lit up the cup holder, though I couldn't stop to see what the screen said. I had figured my phone was ringing.

I don't think there was much water damage either.. I had dropped my Curve into a pool months ago and it dried out and worked fine. And the red LED wasn't blinking after that happened.

If your phone won't stay connected try removing the battery and leaving it out. Then connect it to your PC.

already tried... From what I have read, it appears to be in a continuous boot cycle sequence.

If its in a continuous boot cycle, it is then a matter of catching it at the right time in the cycle.

However, if it got wet and was not dried out, there's the sad possibility that it might be fried. But, don't give up on catching it at the right time in the boot cycle.

Well the thing is, the cycle is dead on.. 4 seconds on, 4 off.. the LED still blinks.. And what do you mean catch it at the right time. Through what program? JL?

how long ago did this happen?

if it got wet enough for you to think it may have caused a problem, you need to shut it off and leave it off until it has fully dried out... depending on the level of humidity in your locale, disassembling it and blow drying it would also be prudent.

keeping the power on while the internals are wet only help to give it a greater chance of shorting out.

good chance at this point it's simply fried. if it wont stay connected long enough to wipe it, then your only course at this point is to shut it down, dry it out completely and without doubt, then try to power it on again.

It happened 2 days ago now. I really didn't think it got that wet. I have tried blow drying it for a bit, I guess I will continue. If it were fried would the LED still light up, and would windows say it recognizes my BB when I connect it to the usb?

Here's a question (I've already read the FAQ on what to do if your BB gets wet). Would putting the device in some rice and putting the container under vacuum speed up the process?

The reason I ask is because I put my Pearl in the wash yesterday. 2nd time this has happened to me ... idiot!

any number of things could happen when it shorts out. that's the unpredictable factor about soaking an electronic device. just because something shorts out doesnt mean it completely dies... the processor could fry but the led may still get power, for instance.

yes to the rice, no to the vacuum as putting it under vacuum will prevent evaporation and simply hold the moisture in.

and start checking your pockets before throwing things in the wash.

hmm ... dried it out sufficiently (i think), but i get nothing when i put the battery in (doesn't even attempt to power up). i'm assuming it is done like dinner? or is there any hope if i let it sit longer?

pull the battery and look for a white dot, its located in the vicinity of the sim card. if this dot is RED, then for sure you have water damage voiding any warranty you had.
so my guess is that you know have a nice looking paper wieght with a qwerty key board.

Thanks, but I'm fully aware of the water damage indicator. There is no question my device has been water damaged, but I'm hoping to be one of the lucky ones that can salvage it by following the suggestions in this forum.

If I'm getting nothing right now, does it mean I'm hooped or can I wait another couple of days and try again?
