Try these before you send it for repair. There might be some dust or dirt caught in it. Do this:

1. Remove the battery from the device (while the unit is still powered on)

2. While the device is off, press down and hold the track ball down hard.

3. While still pressing it down hard roll it around in all different directions.

4. Place the battery back in the device and let it boot. Test out the trackball functionality again.

Great post. My track ball moves in all directions, but does not work when I press down on it. I turned it off and moved in all directions, took the battery out and reset the phone, blew air on it, rubbed alchol on it and finally got the kahunas to take the ball out. I removed it from the phone and cleaned things out with air and alchol. It still doesn't work. The link to trackball cleaning is excellent. I have read some posts about wiping the phone clean. Any thoughts on this or where I should go from here?
