I understand but what I am saying is that a backup would not have helped with some information. Only none password protected data like in Outlook

The backup will restore the device to nearly 100% with the possible exception of some 3rd party application data.

Ok, back to subject at hand.

KAT1, just let it wipe and start over. I know it's a burden. When I left my previous job, I had to give back my BB and my laptop and I started over with a fresh BB. I feel your pain.

Thanks Guys! It is in the scrubbing mode now. I feel like a part of me just died. This girl will not put a password on her BB Baby again. Now I just need to figure out how to sync it on my MacPro.

Hey all,

I have the same exact problem with the BB curve 8310.
To all the non-believers out there: Yes, this strange BB locked out thing does happen randomly.
Especially, if your password involves with any countries emergency numbers.
ex: 12, 08, 91, 99....

2 out of 200 customers of mine came to me and asked me for help for being locked out of their BBs. At first, I thought they just forgot their password, although they swear they did not.
Okay, at the end, I can't really do anything for them but wipe their BB in front of them. It was okay with them because everything is backup (except call log and txt msg).
So, I also went through the setup with them again: company email setup and password.
I chose the password for the customer, his last 4 digits of cell phone.
Yes people, I do know the difference between num lock, alt, language keyboard etc...
Within 30 min, the device locked (the 3rd time), so I typed in pw to unlock.
I still remember it was 1208. The first 2 times, it accepted the same pw.
So, there is nooo room for me to mess up.
It seriously locked itself. Since it is only 1208, it is either the letter or num 1208.
I tried both, did not work.
So, device was wipe again. Remember, I worked on the device on my hand for this whole time. I am 100% sure that i typed in the correct pw.
I started to believe there is something worng with BB remembering their own pw.

I know you guys are probably still don't believe me. However, i worked with BB devices and other phones that I know what I was doing.

Wow I never felt that way about a mobile phone . . . but a BB is much, much more than that, isn't it?

ok, say I believe you.

What does this have to do with a country's emergency number, 12, 08, 91, 99, ...? How is that an emergency number?

Some BB can do international calls. It depends how they were set up.
Emergency numbers. When you type in your password, if your password has more than 2 numbers are "similar" to any countries (yes, any country that can use BB).
for example: 08, 12, 11, 22, 911, 999
you will receive a pop up saying "press send to place emergency call"
After that, for some BB, at least 2 out of my 200 customers, having a problem typing in the correct pw.

However, it DOES NOT mean if your password is "similar" to some weird country's emergency number, your phone will locked out.

I found out that: 2 of my trouble customers got that "press send to place emergency call" msg when they were having problem unlocking their device.
before they were having trouble, they were able to use the same pw without any problem.

The only fix I had for them at the end is to choose another password.

Angry 8330 Curve locked up

I was trying to sync to my PC via USB. Our IT dept set up BB enterprise service a few days ago. I have the password-required-to-unlock mandatory selection...... the PC wanted a password and would not accept the keyboard unlock. I disconnected the USB and entered the keyboard password. As it got to the last attempts, the actual numbers were displayed instead of asterisks. On the final attempts it told me to enter blackberry, which I did twice and knew it was entered correctly. My phone wiped anyway and went to a white screen. It was completely dead. It is at a Sprint repair center right now and they say they may have to replace the phone..................
