Default Texts from International Numbers?

Please Login to Remove!

My carrier is Verizon. Would I need to contact them to find out if I can at least receive texts from international mobile numbers? One of my friends said they sent one to me, using their mobile, but I never got it on my phone at all.

I know I can get texts from Skype, and it only registers as a message being from a string of numbers but if I can expect it, I don't mind that. But ideally I would rather be able to at least send texts to international friends even if I can't talk to them.

International texts should come through like any other text message. Sometimes, however, carriers have problems with cross-border messaging. I've seen this problem reported most often with Verizon, but nobody is immune. Seems mostly random when it fails. Try sending a text from your BB to your friend overseas and let them reply to it, just as a test.

That requires INTL SMS at least not be blocked, and may cost $$ just as a pay per use feature if not blocked. Just a heads up

Good point. I'm used to both AT&T's and Sprint's messaging plans in which international texts are included like domestic texts. I don't know how other carriers handle this.
