Default RIM Data Issues 8 March 2010

Please Login to Remove!

About the time I left home this morning my 8900 stopped getting mail from my company's BES. I use UMA at home, and the time it stopped getting messages was right about the time the phone would have had to change over to T-Mobile's network via Edge.

The trouble didn't stop there.

When I got to the office, no one else on the BES was reporting problems. My pending data packets were going up, and still no mail. Rebooted the phone, nothing.

Called T-Mobile. They asked me to wipe the handheld.

After I wiped the handheld, I am unable to access my BIS settings (the browser goes straight to the T-Zones home page.) Cannot receive PIN messages, and Enterprise Activation just hangs on "Activating...".

I am currently on hold with Tier II support at RIM now to find out what's going on...

A couple of the mods here have T-Mo and are experiencing similar issues, so I don't think it's just you.

Moved to Data Outages forum.

FYI the technician at Tier II could not resolve the issue, and said he would need to investigate further. Waiting for a call back now.

I too have been experiencing similar problems. As soon as i left my home this morning (where i am connected via UMA\wifi) i was unable to talk via bbm and was not receiving emails.

I saw this thread and connected to my offices wifi and instantly i got all my BBM's and emails.

Does anyone have any ideas whats causing this?

Apparently RIM tech support is confirming data issues for WiFi devices when OFF of the WiFi network.

No ETA for resolution.

I'm back on UMA in my office, but phone is still dead in the water (probably the fault of the security wipe.) Guess I'll take the rest of the day off :D

eh, yea, a security wipe could kill all email and data connectivity to your accounts.

Last night was using my 9700 on the Rogers wireless network no problems. Woke up this morning and it says " 3G" with the blackberry dots beside it but no data connectivity at all. No access to WIFI right now. Maybe its actually not just a TMOB issue.... any workaround? Tried turning connections off and on and re-registered device on network and both didnt work..

I'm in Chicago, but it doesn't appear to be a carrier or region issue. I'm guessing RIM busted something overnight for UMA users.

I was still able to send, even through my BES, until T-Mobile asked me to wipe the handset.

I'm in Toronto on Rogers, and started having issues yesterday about 20:00. All connectivity seems to be spotty. Things seem to flow in spurts...glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'm using a 9700 on 3G but no UMA.

UMA is phone service over wifi connection.

I got escalated to RIM. They confirmed an issue that they said was affecting wifi devices though not necessarily when on wifi. They said there was nothing we could do on our end to fix it and to wait for resolution on their end. I can send mail and it seemed to go through but nothing is being received on my BB. Additionally, I have no browser access and my data apps are not getting any data either.

A few minutes ago I just got 65 emails and a bunch of BBM convos. The browser started working again, too. However, my browser is back to not working very well again. I think this is getting resolved but as is the case with all RIM outages that are resolved there is always a backlog of messages to be sent out and it can clog up the system until everything is back to normal.

Just received this from Rogers:

The Rogers Enterprise Service Centre has been advised of the following planned (I think they meant to say 'unplanned') maintenance activity

Notification Type: Unplanned (New)
Service Affected: Blackberry PIN-to-PIN / Email messages
Area Affected: National
Date: Monday, March 08, 2010
Start Time: 2:30 PM (EST)
End Date: TBD
End Time: TBD
Estimated Outage Length: TBD

Work Summary: BlackBerry subscribers may intermittently experience delays in sending and receiving PIN and Email messages and may receive an "x" when sending PIN and Email messages. Enterprise Activation may also fail. RIM and Rogers is currently investigating and this message will be updated when more information becomes available.

Same issues with AT&T 9700....
I reported it to AT&T and they are escalating to RIM now... I am on hold waiting for status. It does seem to be a weird problem... strange BB not telling the carriers.

Also AT&T and 9700. No email or browser. Time to move to iPhone? RIM is losing my confidence.
