Hi, guys .
When I read this topic I got confused .!
You mentioned here that 9520 is better that 9550 because it supports GSM but the 9550 doesn`t ..!!
But it seems to me that is not true ..!
Because as we know the Storm2 9550 supports GSM
and you can check here :-

gsmarena.com/blackberry_storm2_9550-2970.php

And here is a comparison between them which says that the 9550 is better than 9520 ..!

gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone2=2962&idPhone1=2970

ihsainooh, I think u r missing the major difference. It has been explained before why 9520 is better for people with strictly GSM networks. 9550 WILL work, but there will be some problems

barry berry, did u buy the phone online? and can u give me a link of which site u bought it from? Thanks

The 9550 is better if you are on a CDMA network since it is primarily a CDMA phone with GSM, designed so that CDMA users would be able to use it when they travel.

The 9520 is better if you are on a GSM network since it is designed for GSM. If you aren't on CDMA, there is no reason at all to buy the 9550 if you have access to a 9520.

I agree with TXLady, and I know for a fact that the GSM 9520 would be better for use purely on GSM networks, vs using the 9550 on GSM. It will work, but for most people it is a hassle they are not willing deal with.

I know, I've used both the 9500, 9530 and 9520 on ATT's GSM network. I know the differences inside and out.

hey all,

this is my first message on blackberryforums. i just want to clear that i have friends who have 9550 and using it in Saudi Arabia carriers with no problems. and as for barryberry i have a lot of friends on my bbm from different location in the world US, Malta, Swizerland and i never faced a problem chatting with them. btw my storm2 9550 is in the way i bought it from US. i'll try it and confirm that its working fine on the middle east carriers.

Godzilla, yes, it (9550/9530) will work fine in the Middle East. You just have to set it up correctly.

i got it through ebay. he was a trusted seller from ebay .... like certified and had a lot of good feedbacks. the thing is u have to have a friend with a paypal account or a credit card issued from US so u can purchase and an address in US to send it to. but if you r in saudi arabia u can find some shops that sell it.
also there's webistes but they ship only within US

none of the shops in saudi sell it....do u know of any specific ones? some ebay sellers deliver worldwide, but i'm worried about getting a bad phone, I'd like to test it live, since storm 2 has so many issues

thanks for the offer...I went all over king fahad street...they had a few but all sold...they'll have a new shipment by wednesday, so I think I'm all set...I can physically inspect the phone too in this case, which seems to be important with the storm 2's.

but make sure to agree with the shop that you'll check the phone for 2 or 3 days if there's anything wrong u'll return it back. cause sometimes they say once u go out of the shop its done.

Hi guys,

I live in khobar too and I just received my storm 9550 which I ordered from eBay. I just can't get BB service activated as I cannot setup stc gprs network to work. I cannot get connection at all for some reason and it's frustrating. It is not as simple as it is with the bold 9000 I guess.

Any help or giudance will be very well appreciated

Thanks

Regards,
