Sorry..

Without a BlackBerry Data Plan, all you will have is voice and SMS. Medianet doesn't mean a thing to a BlackBerry and no one else can tell you anything differently.

OK...simplify this for me...my BB arrives later this week. I have two unlocked phones (T616 and V3), both of which began life on networks other than Cingular. I can throw my SIM card into either and, with the right settings for data, they both access MediaNet just fine (for a gazillion $ of course). I also link them to my iPAQ and browse in Pocket IE (for a gazillion $ of course).

In words of one syllable or less, why will a BB not do the same? No WAP browser? Is there some way that Cingular can determine the difference between a V3 on their WAP network and a BB on their WAP network if the SIM and the settings are identical?

Thanks.
