.148 is .148
this is something i've been wondering about recently....can you please verify this is the case ?

a lot of ppl say the betas and officials of the same OS are identical, but would like to prove this is the case.

I downloaded 122 yesterday and am wondering if 148 has the memory leak like the 122. I did not have memory leaks with 75 and I am grateful for the speed of the 122. The only problem that I am seeing is the memory leak. Any comments?

Yes, .148 in the beta leak is exactly the same as .148 in any official release, whether from Verizon or from another carrier.

It should be very easy for you to do.

Download the beta.

Move the installed files (in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files) to another location.

Install the released version.

Compare the two sets of files - additional or deleted language files do not count as they are not part of the base operating system.

Easy enough for you to prove it!

Good luck.

I grabbed the update already. I had to wipe the phone as I was already running the beta .148 and it would not upgrade. Once I wiped it did the auto update once I plugged into the DM. Have not played with it enough to notice anything different as of yet. I will let you know.

You won't notice any differences. You already had the latest OS on your device and just put the same one back on.
I mentioned this in post #3 in this tread.

You basically wasted your time.

Should be no difference from the beta .148 you were already running. It's same thing.

I get an error "You cannot update your software using this system as your device is currently activated on Blackberry Enterprise Server or Blackberry Professional Software"

That's not true, as my Storm is only on a BIS right now.

Wonder why.

Was it ever on BES or BPS?

there won't be, as i repeated several times in this thread already.

If you already have the beta .148, updating to the Verizon .148 is a waste of time.

There was not a link. It was over DM. I plugged the phone in and went to software update. It found it on its own. Again, though, I had to wipe my phone of the .148 beta so it would recognize the upgrade. You can either wipe the phone via JL_Cmder or simply downgrade to a previous OS. Once this happens the DM will recognize an upgrade.

Agreed.... I wiped from the beta to grab the "official" and have yet to see a difference. Only do this if you need to sleep better at night with an official OS instead of a beta...
