And then you don't have the choice to click next again?

There are 4 buttons; Back, Finish or Cancel. The fourth button is Advanced which offers the facility of removing applications.

That's odd.. When I run the Loader.exe again, it reads the device, then shows me the list with the applications what it will do, then next, then it reloads the OS and that's it.

Try to reload the OS and be careful what you "check/uncheck" when you reinstall.

Default Upgrade

Hi,

i recently purchased 9530 from ebay (Factory Unlocked). I thought Factory Unlocked would be directly from Blackberry and not from any provider. But it is a verizon one ! But yet i think it should be Factory Unlocked.

Provided can i do these things -
- Can i update my device directly from blackberry site ? Will it be locked ?
- Can i update my device with any other OS available ?

I have below OS
Blackberry 9530
smartphone (3G, CDMA)
v4.7.0.75 (Platform 4.0.0.94)
Cryptographic Kernel v3.8.5.51
Branding Version: 1.0.105.142

Can someone guide me about my about doubts ?

Also i cannot use my browser with this device. It does not allow me to input the APN details. How can i update my device OS with which latest OS ? From where to download ?

Please guide.

Thanks in advance,

Drivesafely

drivesafely, you have a 9530 model, so you can't use the 9500 OS in this thread, you must use the 9530 OS found here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

You won't be able update the OS direct from the blackberry site, but you should follow the instructions in the link above.

Thanks for reply and the link.

I will follow the link.
Sorry for repeating the question - If i cannot update my device from blackberry, does that mean that my device is not Factory Unlocked ?

Thanks,

Drivesafely.

Your device is not factory unlocked. It may be unlocked, but a Verizon-branded 9530 will not be factory unlocked.

"Unlocking" on a BlackBerry has nothing to do with how you go about the upgrade process, it only refers to being able to use it on a carrier other than to which it is branded.

Anyone who owns a Storm 9500 can download this. If you have a 9530 then you have to check here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Ok, I am not Mr. Technobabble so have no idea what all this means. This is what is showing on my phone:

Blackberry 9530
v4.7.0.132 (Platform 4.0.0.162)

and this is what is available for download:

Software For BlackBerry® Storm(TM) smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.0.172 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.7.0.172
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.7.0.122
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.153
* File name: 9530AMEA_PBr4.7.0_rel172_PL4.0.0.153_A4.7.0.122_Be ll_Mobility_Inc.exe
* File size: 104.43MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.0.109 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.7.0.109
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.7.0.76
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.96
* File name: 9530AMEA_PBr4.7.0_rel109_PL4.0.0.96_A4.7.0.76_Bell _Mobility.exe
* File size: 102.85MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Which one do I download??? To me, it looks like it is a step up in version, but the platform looks like a step down from what I have. So I am confused. Is .141 updated to this .172? Can someone explain this to me without using abbreviations or anything technical?

The OS for Storm 9530 is different from the OS for Storm 9500. This thread is for Storm 9500 therefore I don't know which is the latest OS for Storm 9530.
Probably the OS is: v4.7.0.132 which is built on the 4.0.0.162 Platform.
Sorry but I'm not very good at explaining...

Well, reinstall the OS and when it displays the list of applications "check" the browser.
