I'm no VZW fanboy, but VZNavigator does more than turn-by-turn directions. The local search feature has been a huge help to me in the last few days. I wish I didn't have to pay for it, but no way Google Maps beats it for what it does. I'm sure that if you keep Google Maps and GPS turned on all the time, you'll experience the system draw as you do with VZNavigator. Having said that, I used VZNav today and was able to take calls and return to directions without any trouble whatsoever.

Can somebody give an accurate detailed comparsion between both programs. We all know VzNav cost a few dollars a month. Lets see some other advantages or similarities.

So from what I am reading, the only two reasons that anyone has given GoogleMaps the over giving VZNAV the is because of the cost and one person that found it was making the berry work slower.

I don't know that this constitutes a whole lot of reasons that Google is so much better than Navigator. The turn by turn directions are definitely a plus for me as the Army sends me to many cities and during rush hour is not the time to be checking the berry up and down while driving...

I concur with your comment ... Google map is just that, a map application with options like directions(text), Satellite view, bookmark options and such comparing the both seems odd to me. It is a neat app especially if you join Latitude . I have VZ Navigator on my other phone a Voyager and it is worth the money ...

my 2cents keep the change ;)

I'm with you. I read over some of the other threads on Google and GPS and although I think the Google Maps is interesting, I dont know what people are all excited over. You get the turn by turn directions, up to date traffic, weather, and the local search is great.

When you say it's not working , what exactly is it not doing . have you pressed on the small blue round Icon on the lower left hand corner? ... Oops I meant lower left corner

I've clicked it before, it says within 1300 meters, waiting for gps. It doesn't update my position on the screen it stays in exactly the same place. I'll check it again in the morning.
