Dawg,

I agree that VZW had the GPS locked out on their BB's. But, I was only referring to the Storm. The GPS on the Storm has worked from the day it was released.

turbomentor,

Another GPS app that you may want to look at is nav4all. It's free, and does work on the Storm. However, I don't know about all of it's features / capability. It does turn-by-turn navigation, but not nearly as well as Telenav.

when i found that verizon does month to month service, suddenly it became appealing to go with them (i'm sick of signing 24 month contracts to get mobile phone service).
reading thru this thread here, it looks like there's mixed opinions about the GPS functionality of the storm.

since i have an 8310 and i pay yearly for telenav and use it, i would like to use my existing telenav subscription with a storm (if i were to buy one).

would anyone with this app working on the device please shoot a couple of screens and post them here ?

ALL GPS WORKS ON STORM!!!!!!! GOOGLE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT DOESN'T BECAUSE GOOGLE HAS TO RELEASE NEW SOFTWARE!!!!! THE GPS IS UNLOCKED ON ALL VZW BB NOW!!! WHEN YOU BUY VZNAV IT'S FOR VOICE AND EXTRA FEATURES!!!!SAME AS TELENAV ETC!!! hope this clears it all up lol!!

Default GPS without a Verizon Wireless Service?

Will it ever be possible to use the Storm as an actual GPS receiver without having wireless turned on? It woul dbe nice to be able to download topo maps for use when backpacking without the need for a cell phone service....

Does anybody know if there is anything wrong with deleting vz navigator on the storm? I'm trying to free up some app space and i don't use vz navigator and just wanted to know if getting rid of it will affect my phone in anyway?

No deleting it will not do anything. PS I have tried every single GPS on the storm and if I am gonna pay 10 a month it came down to vznav it is par with telenav and I might as well pay it on my bill instead of using a credit card

yeah i cant afford the extra 10 a month i have nav4all its a free navigation thing. It has voice navigation and works pretty nice. It takes me on some crazy journeys sometimes but it gets me to the right destination in the end. It automatically recalculates if you take a wrong street too. Its a great app and recommend it for everybody.
