Looks like Verizon has an update available now -- who wants to be the guinea pig to see what version it is & how it runs?

I just downloaded it, it's 4.7.0.75.
Not sure if I want to install it though, I'm still having problems activating mine after installing the Bell Mobility 4.7.0.76 version...

This can be enabled on your BES. It affects all users, so talk to your BES admin. It requires BES 4.1.5+.
Check out RIM's documentation here: Turn on or turn off the Enterprise-Only Message Application icon in BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.5
Also note that by default the icon is labeled "Desktop" (what a horrible default name RIM) - unless you go into Desktop Manger and change the name (Desktop Manager -> Email Settings -> Advanced, "Message service display name").
You can change it for all users on the BES by updating the Userconfig table in the BESMgmt database directly (the column name is "ServiceBookName"). I haven't seen this recommended by RIM, but I've had no issues changing it. YMMV.
You will need to resend the BES service books for the change to take effect.

It is by design, and the "Download Images Automatically" setting is for images that are embedded into the message itself... not externally hosted images where the email message merely contains <img> tags directed to outside sources.
Additionally, the ability to segregate BES mail from BIS mail is a feature of BES starting with BES 4.1.5.
You could always contact your BES admin to implement this feature if your BES supports it.
It is a global change and will affect all users on your BES, not just your device.

Thanks for clarifying that. I stand corrected.
Now... I wish there was a setting that allowed us to approve senders, so we wouldn't have to do this every time...

Thanks for the tip!
Was not aware that this was possible now.
I've just enabled this feature on our BES server and it works like a charm.

Runs fine, got it to activate finally by connecting to my laptop and running Desktop Manager. Weird, but works.
Seems to be faster, better timing on the portrait/landscape flip also.

So I downloaded .76 and wound up with .75...
I was able to download 4.7.0.76 today. I deleted the vendor.xml file as normal, opened dm and it found the update. The update went fine, except I was updated to 4.7.0.75 instead of .76. I checked the file I downloaded, and it was .76. I ran DM again, and it didn't pick up another update, so I went to Application Loader and manually checked for updates, and it showed 3 versions (.65, .75 and .76). I unchecked .75 and checked .76 and clicked next, but then the App loader told me no update is required for my device.
I never downloaded .75, so not sure how I even got that version. I am running DM 4.7. Any help would be much appreciated.

I enabled this setting on my BES database and pushed out new service books. It took less than 5 minutes and works as expected. All my BES mail is in its own folder just like my BIS mail. I hid the Messages folder as suggested and no longer have to filter through BIS messages to see my BES messages.
We owe our thanks to soupandsandwich for pointing it out to us initially today. Thank you!

Is there any impact to Verizon phones by loading this Bell release (.76) if vendor.xml file is deleted prior to uploading? Does it affect any Verizon specific apps?

I went through the OTA upgrade last night. I am hoping it is not just placebo, but so far it feels a ton faster over all.

I've not ran into any issues since the upgrade a couple of days ago.
Everything works.
