It does not seem to be impacting anything as far as I can tell.

[QUOTE=GT5L;1181388]Here is what you need to do:

*Don't try this if you don't have the unlock code from VZW as random numbers will not work

1) Call Verizon, ask for blackberry global support, tell them you need the the unlock code to use a pre-paid sim card overseas, it is the truth for me.

They told me that you CANNOT use a prepaid card in that phone overseas as it won't recognize it. They said the phone will only recognize the sim card that is already there. Is there any other way to convince them?

And please could you PM my those instructions you got from the other forum?? Thanks a lot.

you simply need to call them again, and again, and again until you get it unlocked. I heard the excuse they gave you. Ask to speak to global support, this is key. Then ask for the unlock code because you want to use several prepaid SIM cards depending on the country you are visiting. Again, I was telling the truth when I told them this because that is truly the case for me.

As for the instructions, they are to get the phone working AFTER you get the unlock code. 90% you don't even need to do anything AFTER you get it unlocked things will just happen. For some reason, 10% of the time, people are having to manually restore service books and browsers. When you get to that step if you still need my help PIN me.

If you paid full retail price then you can call verizon and get the code.

Angry Unlocking 9530 with vzn Global Services

I just got my 9530 from BestBuy unactivated since i live in Mex city. tried calling vzn GS, and they argue they require for you to activate the BB with them (get a number) and thay have a 6 month period before they can unlock.

Any comments???

that is b.s. because my friend just opened up a line with vzw and they unlocked 2 storms for him 1 which is his 1 which is mine. mind you he has been with vzw since the storm came out no previous contracts with them. do you have any friends with vzw ? if so just put their sim in and call their global support maybe that will work.

Thanks!

I donŽt have anyone IŽll try to open and close an account, see if that works. Also does anyone knows why web unlocking services for the 9530 take almost 2 full weeks??

I think your best bet is to get vzw to do it. Don't talk to cs talk to global support.

So if I have a friend who is willing to let me use one of his upgrades to get me a storm, what kind of penalties will he get when he goes to reactivate his curve after unlocking and handing the phone over to me? Since he already has a BB plan would he need to sign up for another one or can he just say that, even though it's one of his kids upgrades, he is going to take the phone.

Sorry I don't use AIM. But if you set the APN you should be able to use AIM.
