Yes, when you pay for VZnav and aren't on the phone. GPS functions pause if you're on the phone.

I am moving up from a basic Motorola phone and looking for a "smart phone" for occasional email and internet with my phone. Do you think I should order a Curve or wait until the Storm comes? I am currently with Qwest/Sprint and they are encouraging me to leave and go with Verizon.

Wait for the Storm. You are aware that you can not own a Verizon bb with out a data plan correct.. So expect a 70-90 bill for voice and data plan.
