I agree with the previous post on the $199 price. I believe that is the same price on the 8GB iphone.

I heard from a verizon store manager that it will be released on Oct 15th....When I told him I haven't heard that at all, he looked at the other rep in the store and said "oops, was I not supposed to say anything" and just laughed about it in a serious way....... So who knows?

I have a brother-in-law that works for Verizon. He said he got an email stating he has a "hands on" session with RIM and the Blackberry Storm scheduled for October 30th. He has no info on release date, but says he confirmed the email meant RIM folks will be there with live functioning storm's that they can play with. I am going to do everything I can to "stop by" while that is going on.
Looks like the 11/2 rumored release date may just be real.

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but is the THUNDER the same as the STORM? I just got an email from VZW, asking if I want to be on the waiting list for the Storm - but I thought the Thunder was going to be more advanced than the Storm. Any insight on this? Thanks - and, again, sorry if I'm out-of-the-loop on this.

This past Friday (10-Oct-2008) I walked into my neighborhood VZW store (Flemington, NJ to be specific). I was greeted as usual with a "how can I help you". I replied with a quick "I am here to pick up my Storm" wink wink. They sales rep did not miss a week and said "you will have to wait until the second week of November, like me."
We chatted a bit, he has a scheduled event during the first week of Nov to "learn about it" but is told that public release is "the second week".
This coincides with many postings on many sites.
That is all I have. He said he knew nothing about price... the wait continues. Keep the faith.

It looks like this date for my brother-in-law may have changed. He didn't get an email saying this date was no longer accurate, but instead got one acting as if he had never received a previous invite, stating it is on the 13th of November?!?

Here some (hopefully legit) good news. My company has about 38,000 VZW phones, of which roughly 10,000 are blackberries. Our VZW guy just came and brought me a new Curve. He told me that on November 9th they will launch the Storm, and he should be able to get us some on Monday the 10th. I told him to sign me up, and he seemed confident in being able deliver on the 10th.
