Yup, the deployment of this SUCKS with a capital suck. I use a brand spanking noo IBM T60P with integrated BT from Broadcom and of course it doesnt work. I even tried using Broadcom's own drivers but to no avail. You would think that RIM in their infinite wisdom and I really do admire them, would realize this and open this up some.

I am still having problems getting the Bluetooth device connection to work. I am able to add the BB to the Windows XP BB devices list, but I am unable to get the BB Desktop Manager to find the BB.

I have been using how to page given on RIM's site. I tried to post the URL here, but I can't b/c I have not posted enough to have that luxery apparantly. Grr. The document node id on their site is 1067250:

Tasks 1-5 work exactly as the page says. However, I cannot get Task 6 step #5. It never finds the BB.

I have looked in the Options|Bluetooth|Options on the BB and all that is listed there for services is Headset and Handsfree. Should I see the Wireless Bypass and Desktop Connectivity listed here? Is that why I cannot pick up the device? Is there any way to add these services? I am not connected to any BES although sympomatically it sounds like these services have been disabled.

I am running a Dell 9400 and BB 8700r running Windows XP Media Edition.

Something else I just noticed. When I go into the BB Options|General Settings I see:

*** no services ***

listed under the services section. Is this a problem? Does anyone else have this section blank that has the bluetooth to desktop manager working?

Celcius, I have an X60 but I can't seem to get bluetooth to work without having 3rd party drivers installed (which doesn't work with blackberry). I have uninstalled per the RIM Guidlines but my device never gets rediscovered unless I add the 3rd party drivers back. any advice?

On the older F/W (and still working on the new) I got mine working once I had them add the Bluetooth Services: Desktop Connectivity and Wireless Bypass.

That enabled the instructions on this thread and here to actually work:

I had to manually change the info in the bluetooth driver to get the right stack to be used, but now it works like a charm for sync and tethered modem. Now if we could only do application loads via BT.

I love using EDGE over BT to my laptop in the airport when there is no WiFi. People are like "I don't see an AirCard, did you find a hot spot?"

Then I explain that it is wireless to the wireless network, and they are like "Sweet" :D

Do you see these listed under services on your BB for the computer that you have paired?

I have a macbook pro and I am having trouble transfering a picture from iphoto to my 8700 via bluetooth or a USB does anyone know how to do this???

I too can now use Desktop Manager through BT, but what an ordeal! I caused the problems myself buying a BT USB adapter that was not on the Microsoft approved devices list - Kensington. Finally searched here and found that I needed to uninstall the supplied Widcomm drivers and manually patch the Kensington adapter info into BTH.INF. It was smooth sailing after that.

I guess the lesson in this is to know ahead of time that the USB adapter and its supplied drivers you plan to use play nice with your OS (XP SP2 in my case).

Headset
Handsfree
Desktop Connectivity
Wireless Bypass


Is that mean that I could configure my laptop to use my BB 8700c as a headset? That would be great to use with Skype!!

I have nothing displayed and therefore can't connect via the desktop manager BT settings. I have the MS BT stack working ok and paired but everytime I try to connect through desktop manager it fails.

Read this thread, your question is answered at least 10 times in it. Must be done via BES server pushing the policys back out to you.

Make sure the Enable Bluetooth Support is checked.....mine is greyed out. can't select it. and strange is the fact that my bberry is connected via bluetooth to my pc (can send pics & ringtones via bluetooth from to my pc)
