I have the 8700c with .284 and tmobile sim. I can hardly use this phone outside. people always complain its hard to understand me and there is to much background noise. Do I have a deffective unit or is the mike very sensitive.

I never had problems on mine. Maybe it is your unit? Might want to see if you can get yours exchanged.

I just had two 8700c's delivered to me. The call quality on one was horrible, the other unit was fine.

One had the hard keys and the other had the soft keys. The one with the hard keys had the bad quality.

I just exchanged my 8700g for a new one today because of a faulty headset jack. The phone quality on the first one was great. This new so far today..crap. I'm going back to exchange yet again.

With a headset my quality on my 8700g is fine. Without it is pretty bad phone quality, just like every other BlackBerry.

Itested the voice quality on my 8700g by calling my office voice mail and recording a 1 min. Test message while standing next to a running 700hp motor pumping 3,000 gpm of water. Very noisy atmosphere. Talking in a normal tone. Results:I could hear the motor running of course,but I could also hear everything I said perfectly. Excellent voice quality on my 8700g!!
