I know Cingular this year is rolling out HSDPA to alot of areas but they still dont have to many HSDPA devices including the blackberry... the only one is the 8700c... and I was curious if anyone knew if a HSDPA one was coming out towards the end of year....? The 8700 is not HSPDA. It is EDGE only... 2.5G

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 7130c: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I haven't heard anything on the blackberry being released, but I know they just started testing in a lot of new markets, and should be up and running by oct 31, so we probably wont see anything until then.

Charlotte - Next week, possibly now
Orlando - Sept-October

I have to get the list from Cingular... but from what I remember its agressive in the deployment.

Default My Speculation

My Educated guess is when BOTH Rogers Wireless goes/announces Nationwide HSDPA & Cingular's Nationwide HSDPA.

Which supposedly can be between September & November 2006. Anything after this will be a HUGE delay; from a providers' point of view - give or take any fiscal qtr ending dates for both. Rogers has already been testing for several months (Engineer's from late April to select employees for the last 1.5 months).

1900/850.

This information is based on the specs for the ZX20, taken straight from Cingular's page:

# Quad-band world phone - 850/900/1800/1900 MHZ
# GSM/GPRS/EDGE capable
# Domestic UMTS 850/1900 MHZ

Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

Yeah, I don't have a lot of posts, but I do have a great relationship with my Cingular business rep.

Q4 is what he told me yesterday for the '3g' Blackberry. I was considering going to EVDO, but with the Cingular BB UMTS device close, I'll stay put. The cool thing about UMTS is being able to have your Blackberry still work (get email) and make phone calls, while tethered to your laptop. That is one of the issues I have with EVDO... maybe an EVDO data card and Cingular BB

Cheers
