Possibly...but I am always a bit skeptical of stories that start out, "...so a guy came into my store..."

I can't show you any confirmation that it exists, but some sources I have have.

I'd say the device described is legit. It is all supposed all hear say right now. People have lost jobs at RIM for disclosing what is coming down the pike this late summer and fall. And, actually the guy who showed it at the store is risking his. But there is a GSM/GPRS thin device coming with a camera and SD card from what my sources say. Devices are in the carriers hands now as well. And I don't go on rumors, check my records on this forum.

I think that RIM is playing all their cards and opening up to more a more diverse market. I'm sure they have done their research and noticed the trends in the technology market are moving more towards a highly interactive device for consumers. Not that they are moving away from their "bread & butter", I see it as they are introducing more products to an already superior product line.

This product won't appeal to all BB users, more of a 15-29 age range that look for those bell's and whistle's on a mobile phone. This is definately not a device aimed at individuals with high level security clearence or executives, more of a main-stream MTV sort of appeal. I am sure that they will have some form of success with these devices, look at the popularity that the BB has now.

It is real and you all see when it materializes. It has been said by many at RIM for months now. Rim is looking to capture all markets, especially since the Treo has taken off so well.
