Default 8330 GPS, is internal or a puck better?

Just curious if I'd get better response finding sattelites with a puck over using it's built in receiver.

I've never had a device with built-in but it seems to me the pucks do a little better but are not as convenient.

hands down get the internal gps versus the puck. I had an 8300 with a puck and now an 8310 with an internal gps. the difference is amazing. the internal is more reliable and much more convenient.

just my 2 cents...

good luck

Does Alltel allow you access to the internal GPS? I say that cuz I am with Verizon and I cannot access unless using VZNavigator.

Alltel does, but on my 8130 the internal doesn't work well unless I have Blackberry Maps running.

my 8130 internal GPS could only pick up a satellite 1 out of 10 times I tried it. Very poor performance. I have a freedom2000 keychain gps now, works well with the 8130

VZW 8330 needs a puck since the internal GPS only works with VZ Navigator. I hope that this will change.

I don't know if anyone has tried this, but if you get the VZ Navigator and set it to follow me mode, then go to Live Search, Live Search will pick up the GPS position and then use it from there, so it must be something inside of VZ Navigator that picks up the position but once its found, other apps can use it. Google Maps didn't but I"m about to try with BB Maps also

Yes, but beware....VZW bought out Alltel, so it will most likely be crippled when VZW takes over just as all their phones are :(

Don't worry, just a curiosity. I love Verizon!
