Default Blackberry Desktop Manager won't open...

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I can install the Desktop Manager software without any issues. I have UAC disabled and I am using an administrator account.

After I install the software, I try to run it and it just opens and quickly closes down. I have installed every version of the software available. I have uninstalled it totally (including removing all dirs manuall as well as reg entries). I have tried using regsvr32 to register all the RIM dlls... nothing bloody works.

I have read tons of messages with other people having the same problem on XP and/or vista. I am VERY dissapointed in this blackberry. Anyone know how to fix this or if blackberry is working on a peice of software that actually works?

You should be installing Desktop Manager verion 4.2, service pack 2.

I've never been impressed with Vista, either.

Interesting, I've been running Desktop Manager 4.2 (no SP) just fine in Vista. I wanted to upgrade to 4.2 with SP2 to get the media manager, and poof, now I'm having this issue as well. Vista is robust, and when configured properly runs as fast as lightning. It will be the gaming platform, unless they plan to roll out DX 10 to XP for some reason.

I am having the EXACT same issue. Have you found a resolution? Driving me nuts. I've downloaded the latest SP2 and still not success.

"I have UAC disabled and I am using an administrator account"

You need to activate the UAC and run application like administrator for start Desktup Manager.

Wow. Not sure what to say.
Im not sure why your disappointed in your BlackBerry because of software issues on your computer?
As per softwre that actually works? You're basing that off of Vista's compatibility issues? I would wait for Microsoft to release SP1...I think theres a reason they call it Vista Compatibility, Reliability and Performance Pack. Or if you cant wait, try downloading the preview SP1

Odd question, but how do you use v4.2 (no SP)? All I get is Device Manager and don't see how you can use it to sync the phone.

Thanks for your imput,
Andy
