Personally, I am holding out for 6.5. Still using 4.2 on my 8800

Usually someone arbitrarily throws a date out at us with no rhyme or reason.

You're right. I just got off the phone with my T-Mobile rep and he said that the T-Mobile version of 4.6 for the 8330 will be out in early Q2 of this year

Ummm. TMobile is a GSM network and the 8330 is a CDMA device so this is impossible.

That would be the 8320, the Tmob GSM Curve. Bring it on, I want the bedside clock mode to appear with my charging dock!

These devices will be getting OS 5.0, why would they want to use 4.6 on them?

I think for the devices 88xx, 81xx, 83xx, they were skipping from 4.5 right to 5.0

Of course that was a rumor, and an old one in fact.

Not true, 4.3.1.xxx (I believe it was) was changed to the 4.5 OS. And 4.5 OS for those devices are out now. I'm running 4.5 on my 8310 right now. And then later their gonna get a 5.0 update.

What are thinking about is correct, but I am mentioning something different..

Technicially OS 4.5 is only suppose to be 4.3/4.4, they renamed it to 4.5 to keep it in sync with the BES Service Pack version (4.1.5/4.1.6). (supposibly BES 5.0 and OS 5.0 should be released around the same time, but we will see)

For the 88xx series, they skipped from 4.2.2 to 4.5, so technicially 4.5 is really 4.3 for the 88xx.

Some of the 81xx and 83xx had 4.3 while others had 4.2.2/4.2.1 so for them OS 4.5 is really 4.4

RIM re-branded it as 4.5 to make it sound better since it took them so loooong to release it.

---

After you think about it... That is really confusing...

But I do remember hearing they were skipping from 4.5 to 5.0 on the current set of devices (88xx, 83xx, 81xx) we will see how that actually turns out though.
