This phone wont let me receive text messages now, it says SIM card full! Please delete SMS messages.

I have been deleting old SMS messages and it continues to say that, what can i do?

Do you store contacts on the SIM card?
If so, move them to your Address Book and delete them also.

Open your Address Book > press the menu key > SIM Phone book.

change the option of (something like) "Save SMS to SIM" to No.

Okay i tried this, hopefully this will clear up a lot of room on my SIM card. Just delete alll the contacts from my SIM card right?

I went into the option and its already at 'No.' This happened to me months before and i was told by this board to do that, now its happening again.

I dont want to delete my old text messages, i may have to as a last resort though but i am looking for ways around that

I remember the thread.
It sounds like its saving them regardless of setting. As if it wasn't saving them to the SIM card, it shouldn't affect your ability to receive them.

I have been deleting contacts from the Sim card yet i still get this message? wtf, i guess i have to just delete all my old text messages unfortunately, on every phone ive had i kept all my texts just for memory and shit

god cant wait til this contract is up in March gonna say so long blackberry!

Is there anyway to delete large quantities of text messages so i dont have to do them individually?
Has BB ever addressed their memory issues?

The method to delete multiple messages at one time has been addressed in these forums and in the FAQ hundreds of times. Pretty simple to search and see how.

Why store anything on a SIM card nowadays?

Full disclosure, I boycotted dumb phones, went straight to BlackBerry, and have only used BlackBerrys.

And I don't know about memory problems. Only problem I had was when 64MB eventually became too limiting, but that's far in the past now.
I don't get it sometimes.

Your other phones likely overwrote the old data as the card got full. The Blackberry probably doesn't do that, and likely why you are running into this issue.

This is a SOFTWARE SETTING issue, not an issue with the phone itself. The last time I saw this problem, I was using my first GSM Blackberry and the device had been set to save my contacts and text messages to my SIM. I migrated them all to the device, deleting them from the SIM and I am STILL using that same SIM card almost 9 years later.

What "memory issue" are you referring to? Be specific. I've never had a memory problem (though all of my Blackberries save my current Torch have been "memory limited" in terms of the total amount of space available for apps the like) but I use my BB for its intended purpose: as a phone, e-mail and PIM device. Not for gaming or apps. So the rather conservative amount of memory RIM furnished them with was never a concern.

The fact that there is a separate memory for apps and photos, videos, etc.
And not to mention you are only given 32 MB for apps, and the memory drains away by itself without installing anything new

I mean the Bold is a good phone, i like it, but there are just too many little issues with it that irks me, not to mention the internet is terrible

The 9000 Bold has 128 MB for app memory space. I don't don't where you're getting the 32 mb. I think the 7100 had 32mb.

I thought we determined above you're contacts were saved there, and that's what's crowding your SIM card out. That's by your own choice you have contacts on the SIM card.

Yeah but i deleted all the contacts from the SIM card and it still had the message popping up. The warning message stopped coming up after i did some mass deletes like you guys told me how to.

Bull. I have downloaded Opera, Poynt and some puzzle game for my Bold, and my memory is at like 24mb, and it randomly changes throughout the day, until you do a battery pull lol.

How come my bold's memory can fluctuate anywhere from 15-25 mb of application memory then?

And 2nd of all, even if it was 128 MB, that is still nothing. 128 MB is literally nothing

As said the OS and applications use that memory to install, they also use that memory to run.
That's why it changes, because an application will use that memory to run, and you will gain it back once that application is closed. Or after a battery pull.

And yes, relatively its nothing, but its more than enough for a slightly shrinked OS and a good few apps.

But that isn't and has never been your issue.
