I just upgraded from the 7290 to the 8700c....I have tried several times to download both themes and ringtones from Cingular or BB but receive a message stating they are not currently available for my BB device and require software version 4.1 or higher. However, under the "About" listing my 8700 states that it contains version 4.1.0.194. Anyone else have this issue? It's probably worth noting that my desktop software is at 4.0, which is what came with the previously owned 7290.

First you should update your desk top software to the ones that came wiht the 8700. Now if you go to thmes and you click on the wheel you would see download seems, have you tried that link yet?

Are you going to the BB extras website to download the themes? Are you using the Internet Browser to go there and not the Cingular Browser? I have the 8700 and sucessfully downloaded a couple fron there. You might want to read through some of the threads on the Themes, Ringtones, and Wallpapers Forum.

the few on BB are for free as well as tones and wallpaper. Cingular still does not support the extras for the 8700
