Default Blackberry Internet Service synchronization problem

Please Login to Remove!

All,

I have a Blackberry Bold 9000 with BIS service with Mobily K.S.A.

My problem with Blackberry Bold 9000 is when I read/forward/delete an email on the blackberry, those changes are reflected on Outlook and the Webmail.

However

When I read/delete/forward an email on my OUTLOOK or WEBMAIL, the blackberry fails to recognize these changes (even after manually syncing).

So basically the synchronization is only working 1 way from Blackberry to OUTLOOK/WEBMAIL and not the other way and I want this to work in both directions, so I don't get confuse with READ and UNREAD emails.

I kindly request your help in resolving the issue.

Regards,
Mohammed Waseeuddin.

This is BIS? Not BES?

I believe you'll find that's just the way it is, depending on the email service. Yahoo is supposed to reconcile both directions. Some of my accounts mark read one way blackberry to inbox and not inbox to blackberry. Another doesn't reconcile either direction. Depends on the email provider and its integration of service with BIS.

The BB/RIM works off of email servers, not the email client on your PC. so it makes sense that something you do on the PC and email client will not be reflected on the BB using BIS. Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail, being web based apps have that interaction at the server level. As aiharkness mentioned above, Yahoo has an arrangement with RIM. I think there is also some two sync with Gmail and maybe Hotmail. I don't use any of those so I cannot say for sure. Use a search if you are interested in finding out more.

Thank you for your reply.

It is BIS.

I have installed trial version of Astra Sync software on my Blackberry and this software works very well, as it not only sync in 2 way directions but it also sync sent items, contacts and calender which was not available with BIS service.

However I am still unable to understand why Blackberry do not have above services, as it is very important for communication.

Email read/unread and delete/undelete reconciliation on BIS doesn't just depend just on RIM, it depends on the email service provider. Perhaps what you really want is hosted BES.

There are some alternatives such as you found. Google offers some various free services as well.

BB does have that - it is called BES and is mainly used by corporations. BIS is for personal use.

Please start a new thread for new issues.

Contact your Telco (the company that you pay for the BIS plan). They will be able to give you the URL for the BIS sign-up page; you can create and manage accounts from there.
