I have a 8100 via T-Mobile...so far everything is stable no problems! everything was smooth from upgrade to latest firmware to backing up media card and formatting media card to enabling HTML email! very good! I waited long for this upgrade! too bad T-Mobile doesn't want to update their upgrade software for the 8100 lol! well thanks again for everything! I'm rocking the new 4.5 haha

Newbie question....My daughter gave to me her 8100 (4.2.1.107) after she upgraded to her new Blackberry. I was wondering if it would do me any good to update the os, IF, all I use the phone for is making calls and an occasional text message?...I am thinking, NOT, but would like to have one or two opinions on this. I just upgraded to this new version today on my t-mo 8100 and everything seems to be working great (after the media card fix). The only issue that I can't figure out is my led is constantly red or the last color displayed. It will blink when I get a message but after I read the message, it goes back to solid red. At first I just had red because of the message notifications. I thought it might have something to do with the coverage indicator (normally off) so I turned it on to see what it did and it turned the led to solid green. It switches back to red when I get another message. I have pulled the battery a few times and it still does this. Is this happening to anyone else?

Sigh.

Remove colorpearl or any trackball color program. That issue will be solved.

I installed the 4.5 Desktop Manager. Deleted the .xml file. Plugged in my BB and it didn't ask to upgrade... What did I do wrong?

Did you install the OS after you installed DM? Do that and then delete vendor.xml again.

Looks like the A1 server ate it. I can't hit it at all.

Will this firmware upgrade be ok with the 8130? the Forum says 8100 Series...but after looking at the firmware packages it looks like they are pretty specific as to which phone they go with.

No, you can't install this on an 8130. Each OS is device model specific.

No, you need the 8130 Software specifically. An 8100 phone is not the same as an 8130.

Looks like the OS has been removed from the server. Anyone know where to get it?

THanks,

Default OS upgrade help - need it very badly

Guys Please help me with this -

I own a ATT Blackberry and recently I upgraded it to the latest 4.5.0.37 software. But the newsoftware was not allowing to install any of the 3rd party themes on my BB.
I decided to wipe out the BB and wiped it out using a 2005 version javaloader.
After that I had to fiddle with the App error 507 couple of hours and although I installed the latest Desktop manager and device software version 4.5 the BB never recognised the same when I tried to load the application.
Finally in vain I downgraded my software to the old ATT 4.2 version by downloading its Device manager and Software. The ATT apploader recognised that I had some upgraded files in my system still.. neverthless asked for an erase and complete install.
Now I have an old version (4.3 ) OS installed and unable to upgrade it to 4.5

Can anyone please help me? Also is there any way to view the pre loaded videos on your PC (net_rim_bb_medialoader_video.alx)?

SIM works and has all night (so far around 9 hours). As I said above, this is my first time dealing with this problem, but just wanted to post that there doesn't appear to be any lasting "damage."
I had similar symptoms a few months ago and it turned out to be a bad SIM holder on my 8100. I ended up replacing the phone. It might just be coincidence that yours started to act up at the same time you updated the O/S.

Not that this would be good news or anything...
