Default Telus 7510 Browser

Can some explain why Telus in Canada doesnt support an HTML browser?

With the new picutre function of 4.0, and the inability of Reqwireless to save images, it's beyond frustrating that after speaking with Data Support at Telus only to hear the "they have no plans to support an HTML browser".

What's the point of that? Nextel provides one, and why wouldn't Telus?

Thanks

I think it has to do with the actual servers on Telus's end being updated for such functionality, at least that was the case with Rogers? The MiKE iDEN service provided by Telus is an off shoot of the Nextel network, with that being said thier not one in the same. For now your goint to have to wait? Look at the bright side it could be Verizon, I think their customers are still waiting for a WAP browser...

I heard Telus is planning to enable the xhtml browser in April 2005.

Can anyone confirm this?

You could always try to get a Nextel BB and see if the browser would work on Telus.

If I understand it correctly Telus would need to subscribe (and pay for) RIM's "Blackberry Internet Service" to permit the Blackberries to access the Internet directly without the user needing a BES server. This is what Bell and Rogers do.

In other words, it is not the device that is limiting the service, it is the carrier.

So far I'm receiving conflicting reports from Telus as to if they will ever do this. Some say April. Some say never.

An alternative way to get a browser on Telus is to get BES at $10 to $25 per month:
