Default New 5.0 Verizon Release Hazard!!

Please Login to Remove!

Just an FYI to all VZ users here. I upgraded my 9630 last week with the new official 5.0 OS and all has been well until yesterday. In the middle of entering a calendar appointment I got a 'white screen of death' with the words "Technical Issue please return to place of purchase for repair". Nice. When I called VZ, and before I could read the whole error message the rep finished the sentence! I was told this was caused by an issue with new OS. The VZ store replaced the 9630. Not good people. VZ users beware.

Ditto. So far I like the upgrade. It would be nice to see a comprehensive list of all the changes that this upgrade provides.

I like the upgrade and haven't had any major problems so far except clicking on links in a web page is a bit dicey.

I like the upgrade so far. Although I have a phantom email indicator that won't go away.

Check for Saved messages, which may be hidden (or possibly any other hidden mailboxes for messages not configured to show up in the main Mailbox). Otherwise, I have seen this in the past, and usually a reboot resolves it.

Nope, no saved messages. And after a reboot, it's still there.

Duh. Found it. I should clean out my main inbox more often. I do like the upgrade so far though.

One other tip that I forgot to mention -- within the Mailbox, type "U" to find the next unread message.

Default Ummmm

Just because you haven't had any problems with the upgrade yet, doesnt mean you wont. Especially if you download it through your phone. My technical issue didnt kick in right away. Def had it for a few weeks before I got the WSOD. So be careful, back up your numbers and downgrade while you still can! wish i would have known about this crap before I agreed to it. -__-

Try Opera Mini 5.0, this is way better than the native browser.

I upgraded and lost my contacts. When I tried to restore from my comp, DtM wouldn't recognize my device. My 9630 still syncs for tethering. The fix was to reinstall DtM. As this was my first upgrade, I find it annoying that there can be such seemingly stupid problems. Since I deal with Windows, I experience stupid problems but it doesn't make it any more excusable.

Upgrade went fine for about a week, then on both my wife's and my phones we started getting random songs and voice notes playing after ending a call or sending or receiving a text. Didn't matter if the ringer was on or not. I've been at my local verizon store for the past two day while they try rebooting this and wiping that. They are sending me two new phones, hope this fixes it, real pain in the ass. The store rep blamed the problem on an text with a virus on it but after i told him it's always a new song or song he had no more to say about that idea. Anyone else experiencing something like this?

Virus???? Surely you jest.
It is a known problem with the 5.x.x.xx OS's. Stems from a MMS. Usually a battery pull will fix, otherwise just wipe and reinstall.
If your curiosity piques you, do a SEARCH through the forums to see how many before you have experienced the same problem.
