If it's not on a BES then it has leftover IT policy on it from previous BES. If that's the case you'll need to install a blank IT policy on the device in order to get rid of that.

If your device is still attached to a BES (like your work) then you can't get around the policy as it will be pushed back when you connect to the BES again.

There is no link for any of the 72xx-series devices' latest OS versions. I suppose you have to go through your carrier's support area for that.

According to T-Mobile's support site (for which you need a TMO number), the latest version of the handheld OS software they offer is 4.1.0.377

has anyone ever successfully unlocked a 7290? I tried and tried and i keep on getting code errors.

The other weird thing is, when I run the MEP reader, both the IMEI and MEP are N/A.

The vendorID for the phone is 101 and I did an IT policy removal by placing a black IT Policy on it (as per John Clark's instructions on this forum).

I used the same MEP reader on my 8700c and both the IMEI and MEP show up just fine. I am stuck. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

If you enter the wrong code 10 times the device is permanently locked. Its probably no longer unlockable. Sorry.

after a few error codes, i finally get the "code accepted" message. What a relief.

Now for those with a 7290 running the OS 4.1.0.377, are you able to use blackberry messenger on it? i tried to download Messenger OTA but i keep getting error messages. Probably because it's trying to download BBM 5.0 on the 7290 which i am sure won't run. Is there a BB Messenger for OS 4.1?

Have you tried
HTML Code:
www.blackberry.com/messenger
It should install 1.0.24 or something like that.

I keep getting "Error: Invalid manifest or application descriptor."

But I finally got it to work by following instructions posted at crackberry.com

The two BBM COD files I needed were already in the OS Java folder on my computer.

C:Program Files/Common Files/RIM/Shared - and the .377 OS folder
net_rim_bb_qm_peer.cod
net_rim_bb_qm_peer_resource_en.cod

I ran BBSAK and noticed that the two COD files were not installed on the 7290. So I used the install cod command in BBSAK to install the two files above and after reboot, voila. A blackberry messenger icon on my home screen. I tested it and it worked.

Question 7290 pictures

Despite the fact that the 7290 BB has limited memory.
I was wondering it at all someone has found a way to upload
images on a 7290 BB without having to send OTA.
I just want a way to upload one or two pictures that are
very small (240x160). Any file sharing programs or just
anything that works would obviously be fantastic.

Hi, Tom... (and Everybody else !!!) I'm a new user in the forum. I'm BRAZILIAN (I beg your pardon for my poor English), and I like to post a solution for a problem that I have encoutered in my 7230, yesterday.
He, nicelly, DIED... In the Screen, appears a short message "PREFETCH ERROR - RESET " and the red light blinks etternelly... The problem probably occurrs with I update it from the original OS (3.7) to 4.0 OS!!! I a lot, and search solutions to a hard (or soft) reset and backup, here.
OK, I SOLVED IT... making this: I download the soft "JL_Cmder v1.9.1", run it and ERASE ALL DATA IN THE PHONE !!! Crazy??? Not yet. I re-install the OS 4.0.2 and... IT WORKS !!!
Finally, this solutions is dedicated to the "desperated users" that , and try to lanch your on the floor, on the wall, or another locals...
Best regards for all.

Default Browser no longer available on 7230

I have a 7230 from T-Mobile in the UK and recently, and without warning, lost the ability to browse. The email works fine and the service books have all been renewed.

I was told that T-Mobile has now cut off WAP 1 and moved to WAP 2; and that the 7230 doesn't support WAP 2.

Does anyone know anything about this. .I might be on a very costs efficient plan that they want to get me off of....

I would first recommend a battery pull reboot: With your device powered ON, remove the battery a minute, replace it and reboot. Try it again and see.

Default 7230 browser

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that approach as well but that doesn't solve the issue. Any other ideas?
