Default Hotmail Address Book>Outlook>BB??????

Please Login to Remove!

To most of you these are going to be very elementary questions but I'm about hopeless when it comes to computers etc. so here goes.....

1. How EXACTLY do I get my Hotmail address book to Outlook and then onto my BB?
2. Where will it go once it is on my BB?
3. How to I access it (so I don't have to type out every address (think cut and paste or just click on the address to add) when I want to send an email?)

I am able to get the address book to my desktop as "WLMContacts.csv" Now what?

I am super excited about my Curve (my wife wants one now because of how much I talk about it) but, without my Hotmail address book, emailing is problematic to say the least. And yes, I do get me Hotmail emails on my BB.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Take your WLMcontacts.csv file and using Outlook, File and Import. Know where you saved that CSV file on your PC, and then navigate to the that file and follow the prompts to import the CSV file into Outlook.

If you want the instructions EXACTLY, you'll need to wait until someone get a chance to write down the process for you, but it is fairly simple if you just look for the File > Import menu in Outlook.

2. When you finally sync to your BB, it will go to your Address Book.

3. Your BB Address Book.

JSanders more or less gave you the process their, open Outlook and go into your desired profile (if you have more then one). Go to File - Import/Export then select import a comma delimated file, select where you want it imported (Contacts I presume) and then hit finish. The most it will ask is what to do with the duplicates that appear if any.

thats basically all there is too it. As Steve0 said, there will be a prompt for duplicates to either merge or delete one or the other, thats all.

Default Easier said than done!

I get as far as intellisync actually writing the data to my 8100. I get the first few entries, then a little box with the dreaded red circle-white "X" pops up and says "unable to write or update application data". Has anyone else run into this?

Yes, dirk. First welcome to the Forums.

There could be any one of several reasons... the most common of which is that one of your outlook records is corrupt OR doesn't contain data in either the First, Last or Company name field. One of those fields MUST be populated for the BlackBerry to index the record, and it won't import a record otherwise, hence the error.

Good luck.

If it is corruption of the Outlook data, I recommend using the ScanPST.exe function to scan the PST and fix any errors. PST file above 1.4 - 1.8 GB tend to corrupt often.

Simply search your computer for ScanPST.exe and run it, select the PST you are syncing with and scan it.
