Default Dust particles in screen

Please Login to Remove!

does this happen to anyone else? it happened with my cheap samsung and now my curve. With the screen off you can see dust inside. It's so annoying because i've had the phone for less then a week. does anyone else get this? I just put the silicone skin on it so maybe that will not let it happen so much anymore.....

If you search the forums using keywords dust and screen, you'll find some people have had problems with dust, others very little. If you carry your device around in your pocket without any type of cover, you will expose the entire device to more dust and lint, which can enter the device through any of the openings. Others have complained about trackball issues over time as well.

I've used my 8310 for three months now, and have no accumulation of dust under the screen (there's one spot which I saw during the first week, and they very well may have been there from the factory). I have been keeping my device in the factory-supplied sleeve when carrying around in my pocket.

You noted having a 8310 and being on T-Mobile. Are you actually on T-Mobile with an 8320?

If you do have a 8310 and are on AT&T, you have 30 days to exchange the device for any reason.

Thanks, I'll search, I have an unlocked 8310 on T-Mobile. for a couple of days i have nothing over it. Now I have that silicone case but that might not do the Job. I don't like the sleave it comes with. I might go with that clear plastic protector.

I'm going to see how bad it gets with just the skin. If it gets really bad I'll clean it following the youtube video and apply a plastic skin over the whole thing.

Hi,

If the skin doesn't cover the seams on the edge of the screen, then you'd still have dust issues.

My wife and I picked up our 8310s in Nov/Dec. I was worried about this issue, so we ordered a leather case with a screen protector. The 8310 is enveloped by the case greatly reducing, if not eliminating, the chance of any dust invaders.

r,

it doesn't cover them completely but now I'm just going to see how bad it gets. If it gets really bad i'll open it, clean it and start looking for better cases.

Luckily for us, no dust. Thanks to the case.

We have the Boxwave Designio case.

This has been a big issue since the curve first came out almost a year ago now. Mine got dust in it after 2 weeks. I was very dissappointed because my razor did the same thing, and I couldn't believe a phone I paid much more for has the same lousy problem. But I got an OEM belt case and stopped carrying it in my pocket and this has stopped more dust from getting in. I never opted to send in the phone for a replacement though.

I've never been able to use a protective case as I've always felt it made it harder to use any device (kind of like using a device while wearing a pair of gloves). I've always had a belt holster and never had any real dust problem with any of my devices. Putting a phone in your pocket unprotected would be just asking for dust or lint to get into any type of phone.

Hi ikasen,

I understand. So, you have tO choose the lesser of two evils.

Dust or case? Which would irritate you less.

Thanks,
eagle

I only use a ShieldZone Invisible Shield on my 8300. Always stick it in my front pocket. I finally got tired of the dust and followed the disassembly instructions on the You Tube video. In addition to the dust, there was a little glue from the case on the inside of the screen. Got it all cleared out and I'm happy with the results. I'm sure I'll have to repeat it every few months, but it's an easy procedure as long as you have a #5 Torx and a credit card to pry the case open.

I have dust just under the screen. I wonder how do I pop it off to clean it myself then put it back on, instead of returning it to the store? Got dust into it the first two weeks until I got the belt holster case, then it stopped. Have had the curve for like 8 months now. How do I clean it myself? Do I pop it off from the top where I see a lil opening with two holes right on top of the screen cover?

YouTube - Blackberry Curve 8300 Screen Removal & Take Apart

I used a normal credit card rather than their pry tool and had no problems. Just make sure you have a soft lint free cloth or clean t-shirt to use to clean the lcd and the screen cover.

I'll tell you this. . . if this dust thing continues with the next model, I will seriously consider going with a new smart phone. I once had a motorola razr, and the dust problem was so bad, i had to get ride of the phone, and will most likely stay away for sometime. There is nothing like making a bad product, just to get it out in time.
