red, have you performed the steps in the FIRST post in this thread? You must.

Go through each step carefully.

Be patient. It takes time to get in to the system. I've had to enter the PIN/IMEI many times, even 20 times before it took.

Be patient, and try again in a few hours.

Default 9550 att will not call

Where do you find your pin/imei #? I have a 9550 that will send and receive text but can not call. I receive a congestion message, not sure what else to try, any other suggestions?

Wow, I would like to thank JSanders for his patience and help with this thread.

A friend of mine might sell me his 9530, I was concerned but I just read through this entire thing and it looks like I just might be okay Glad you posted the information on how to back up my service books so I can put them on the new device.

And for Jim, go to Options->Status to find your imei and PIN number.

Why would you not want to load the Service Books?
You need them to completely load all Tmobile services since you will be using the device on Tmobile.

Hi Everyone.

1. I ran the process explained and the phone is working (email, sms, pin) except for the browser, the icon is missing. From the instructions I never saw a net_rim_bb_browser_daemon, the only one available was net_rim_bb_browser I selected that one and followed all the instructions.

2. I am running DTM 5.0.

3. The unlocked bb software is : v5.0.0.328 (Platform 4.2.0.128)

4. (Step 55. Go to C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\Loader\OS version\Java does not exist in this PC.

5. Do I need to un-install the software to a lower version? Will it affect the phone?

Help will be appreciated.

Rosanna1961,

1. No, you have to delete the exact file as stated. Choosing another similar file won't do it.
2. Good, no problem, doesn't matter.
3. Ok.
4. Then you have not installed the OS to your PC. Go back to "Before You Start" Step B.
Quote:
Before you start:

a) You must have THE BlackBerry Data Plan (BIS) on your carrier account.

b) Install your current OS on your BlackBerry device to your PC.
If you are using a beta OS, it must be installed on the PC. Find the most current OS release for your model in this same 9500/9530 model section, in the Sticky Notes at the top.
5. No.

No, Desktop Manager is not the same as the OS. The version numbers are very similar, but they're different.

If DMS = Desktop Manager... correct, they are not the same.

That is why the instructions in the initial thread here treat them as two different steps.
