I think $199 is for new activations only.

From what I have gathered so far, the ATT rep. from the store told us it might be $299 for new activations, with a 100 dollars rebate gift card.

Yep, just ordered mine as a new line for $299.00 with $100 mail in rebate so it nets out at $199.99.

So after 31 days I call and cancel and pay the ETF of $175.00 so the phone nets out to me at $375.00. Much better than the $750 non-upgrade price quoted on the Premier site.

I called business care this am and got it for $199.99 (bottom line, no rebate!!!) and no upgrade/activation fees. Yeah baby!!! I did have to spring for fed-ex two day shipping though

Just a word of caution for those that ordered it today on the premier web site. I just ordered mine and paid for overnight shipping. The wierd thing is when it emailed me my order it showed $0.00 for shipping. So i was worried that they would send it on the pony express and I wouldnt get it for 5-7 days. Well as you all know we or I cant eait that long. So i called AT&T and the automated system advised me that my order was on back order. I then called my local store and they told me they wont have it until the 22nd. I really hope they did not put this phone on thier web site for people to purchase but will not mail it out for several days.

the rep who i spoke with ATT, Wanda something or other, said they were in stock and shipping next day from order... i explained that i didnt want to order unless they had stock... the att order status page indicates that my order is being processed and is not on backorder.

Just go to the AT&T web site, I think you have to have a premier account. If not they have a few AT&T branded 9700's on eBay, I'm sure you can get them overnighted to you & cheaper then AT&T's price of $749. I can't make sense of that high price; but what the hell, I paid it; so I guess I'm the crazy one. Oh the shame!

You can also see if your college or university participates, i graduated college in 2002 and used my alumni email address to open a premier account. My company participates in a discount program with vzw but i ended up getting a better discount through at&t's premier program.. 15% off my plan and I'll have a 9700 by 3pm today..
